THE ANCIENT ART OF GATEWALKING PART 4: THE OUTER SPHERES

without comments

This is our fourth article concerning the process of self-initiation as described in the Simon Necronomicon, better known as GateWalking. So far we have discussed the authenticity of the GateWalking Process and some of its deeper meanings, which we found in the MAGAN Text. We now approach another interesting aspect of the Gates, which can be seen from the following quote taken from the Simon Necronomicon on page 48:

“For this reason, few have ever opened the Gate of ADAR, and spoken to the Horned One who resideth there and giveth all manner of wisdom regarding the operations of necromancy, and of the spells that hasten unto death. Only when thou hast shown thy power over the Maskim and the Rabishu, mayest thou venture forth to the Land of the IGIGI, and for that reason was this Covenant made, that none shall safely Walk through the sunken valleys of the Dead before having ascended to MARDUK, nor shall they breach the Gates that lie beyond ADAR until they have seen the Signs of the Mad God and felt the fury of the hellish Queen.”

From the above quote, we can see that there are indeed other Gates that lie beyond the Seven Spheres. THE SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL TO 777 found in the Introduction of the Simon Necronomicon provides the following list:

This shows us that there are indeed 11 Gates in total and seven of these are walked during the process of initiation. Yet there is little information given about the three higher Gates. It should also be noted that KIA (Earth) is not walked until one returns back down from ADAR. This is because we are born into the Gate of KIA (Earth). Let us remember that in the INVOCATION OF THE NANNA GATE we call NANNA from the Gate of KI, our earthly home. Based on our previous discussion, in Part three, once we have passed ADAR we are to walk back down the Ladder of Lights to KIA. Notice what is said in the final part of the MAGAN Text concerning the Sleep of ISHTAR:

“The Dark Waters trembled and roiled.

AZAG-THOTH screamed upon his throne
CUTHALU lurched forth from his sleep
ISHNIGARRAB fled the Palace of Death
IAK SAKKAK trembled in fear and hate
The ANNUNNAKI fled their thrones
The Eye upon the Throne took flight
ERESHKIGAL roared and summoned NAMMTAR
The Magician NAMMRAR she called
But not for pursuit
But for protection.

INANNA ascended from the Underworld.

With the winged elementals she fled the Gates
Of GANZIR and NETI she fled
And verily
The Dead fled ahead of her.

When through the First Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her jeweled robes.

When through the Second Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her jeweled bracelets.

When through the Third Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her jeweled belt.

When through the Fourth Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her jeweled necklace.

When through the Fifth Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her Belt of Jewels.

When through the Sixth Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her Wand of Lapis

When through the Seventh Gate they fled
ISHTAR took back her jeweled crown.”

The above passage makes note that when ISHTAR arose, the ‘Eye of the Throne’ also took flight. The symbol of the Eye coupled with the Throne is a symbol of an omnipresent deity. We also find that ISHTAR, while escaping the Underworld, reclaims what she had given up during her descent. The Eye takes flight from the Throne meaning that we are initiated into the deeper mysteries and we are taught directly by the IGIGI.

“For this is the Book of the Dead, the Book of the Black Earth, that I have writ down at the peril of my life, exactly as I received it, on the planes of the IGIGI, the cruel celestial spirits from beyond the Wanderers of the Wastes.”

We also find another interesting point in the MAGAN Text:

“And the Demons rose
And the Spirits of the Dead
And went with her out of the Gates
Looking neither right nor left
Walking in front and behind
They went with ISHTAR from the Gate of GANZIR
Out of the Netherworld they accompanied her
And ERESHKIGAL
Scorned Queen of the Abyss Wherein All Are Drowned Pronounced a Curse
Solemn and Powerful
Against the Queen of the Rising of the Sun
And NAMMTAR gave it form.”

This is passage indicates the meaning of our imitation, as the Initiate of the Simon Necronomicon is working with the Arts of Necromancy. There are quite a few passages in the Simon Necronomicon where its mentions ‘the dead rising and smelling the incense.’ It is at this point that one becomes an Adept, having reached ADAR and a sign from the outer realms is given, and true initiation occurs. This is one of the most important aspects of GateWalking Process. Some will find themselves in a circle walking Gates month after month until the signal is given. The Signs of Initiation may vary from person to person depending how they respond on a psychic level, but it is very important that they receive some sort of sign, while in ADAR, lest the same forces that one sought during initiation turn against the Initiate. The work of Necromancy is the capstone teachings of the Greater Mysteries. Notice the following quote from the Book of Entrance:

“For this reason, few have ever opened the Gate of ADAR, and spoken to the Horned One who resideth there and giveth all manner of wisdom regarding the operations of necromancy, and of the spells that hasten unto death.“

It is for this reason as quoted above that the workings of the Simon Necronomicon will not reveal itself to the Initiate, unless he/she has gained approval from the forces described in the text. The whole book is an open secret. I know that even from my own experience, I had the Necronomicon for years, but my greatest understanding of it came from the Gods. It is only when one begins working with the text that the understanding of it comes. The workings in the Simon Necronomicon open the door of Communication with Qliphotic forces. Since we live in a society that is dominated by Christian viewpoints, overcoming the fear of this path is not easy. I will give one suggestion for those who maybe intimidated by the Text, yet feel some sort of calling to the book. Rewrite the text over, from the Mad Arab’s Testimony to the Testimony of the Mad Arab part 2.

Interestingly, many of the Gods in the Necronomicon pantheon became known as sky gods only after being tried and tested in Ganzir. From the example of ISHTAR, after we descend and ascend, the initiatory Gates, we find ourselves back on KIA. It is at this time that we are to advance to the realm of ENKI. The name ENKI meaning Lord of the EARTH and his number is 40. Above ENKI is ENLIL, whose name means Lord of the Wind, which is appropriately above the earth. ENILIL”s number is 50. Afterward we have ANU, whose name means heavenly one. His number is 60. Tis would give is a total of 150, 60 + 50 + 40 = 150. This is the same total that we come up with during our initiation:

NANNA 30

NEBO 12

ISHTAR 15

SHAMMASH 20

NERGAL 8

MARDUK 10

ADAR 4

30 + 12 + 15 + 20 + 8 + 10 + 4 = 99

Our number is 99, but we must also remember to include ourselves. 99 + 1 = 100. So now our number is 100, but we must also remember the 50 names that are given to us in the Sphere of MARDUK. 100 + 50 = 150. We can now begin to see that KIA (Earth) stands in the balance between the initiatory spheres and the heavenly ones. Wikipedia makes the following statement under the topic BABYLON:

Gateway to the City of Pyramids

The Seal of Babalon

Within the mystical system of Thelema, after the adept has attained the Knowledge and Conversation of his Holy Guardian Angel, he then might reach the next and last great milestone—the crossing of the Abyss, that great spiritual wilderness of nothingness and dissolution. Choronzon is the dweller there, and his job is to trap the traveler in his meaningless world of illusion.

However, Babalon is just on the other side, beckoning. If the adept gives himself totally to her—the symbol of this act being the pouring of the adept’s blood into her graal—he becomes impregnated in her, then to be reborn as a Master of the Temple and a saint that dwells in the City of the Pyramids.

[S]he guardeth the Abyss. And in her is a perfect purity of that which is above, yet she is sent as the Redeemer to them that are below. For there is no other way into the Supernal mystery but through her and the Beast on which she rideth.[1]

and from The Vision and the Voice (12th Aethyr):

Let him look upon the cup whose blood is mingled therein, for the wine of the cup is the blood of the saints. Glory unto the Scarlet Woman, Babalon the Mother of Abominations, that rideth upon the Beast, for she hath spilt their blood in every corner of the earth and lo! she hath mingled it in the cup of her whoredom.

She is considered to be a sacred whore because she denies no one, and yet she extracts a great price—the very blood of the adept and his ego-identity as an earthly individual. This aspect of Babalon is described further from the 12th Aethyr:

This is the Mystery of Babylon, the Mother of Abominations, and this is the mystery of her adulteries, for she hath yielded up herself to everything that liveth, and hath become a partaker in its mystery. And because she hath made her self the servant of each, therefore is she become the mistress of all. Not as yet canst thou comprehend her glory.

Beautiful art thou, O Babylon, and desirable, for thou hast given thyself to everything that liveth, and thy weakness hath subdued their strength. For in that union thou didst understand. Therefore art thou called Understanding, O Babylon, Lady of the Night!

The concept contained within this aspect of Babalon is that of the mystical ideal, the quest to become one with All through the annihilation of the earthly ego (For as thy blood is mingled in the cup of BABALON, so is thine heart the universal heart.). The blood spilling into the graal of Babalon is then used by her to “flood the world with Life and Beauty” (meaning to create Masters of the Temple that are “released” back into the world of men), symbolized by the Crimson Rose of 49 Pedals.[3]

In sex magic, the mixture of menstrual blood and semen produced in the sexual act with the Scarlet Woman or Babalon is called the Elixir Rubeus (abbreviated as El. Rub. by Crowley in his magical diaries), and is referred to as the “effluvium of Babalon, the Scarlet Woman, which is the menstruum of the lunar current” by Kenneth Grant

The above passage would explain one of the most misinterpreted verses of the MAGAN Text as follows:

“Those from Without
Have builded up charnel houses
To nourish the fiends of TIAMAT
And the Blood of the weakest here
Is libation unto TIAMAT
Queen of the Ghouls
Wreaker of Pain
And to invoke her
The Red Water of Life
Need be split on a stone
The stone struck with a sword
That hath slain eleven men
Sacrifices to HUBUR
So that the Strike ringeth out
And call TIAMAT from Her slumber
From her sleep in the Caverns
Of the Earth.”

Some have misinterpreted this verse as a reference to sacrificial murder, which is completely erroneous. The sword that has slain eleven men is the Sword of the Watcher. The Sword of the Watcher is used to access the eleven spheres, of which seven of these are initiatory in nature and the other four are for the Initiate’s evolution.
