Spiritual Practices of the Necronomicon Tradition: The Morning Prayer and Meditation

meditation

I would like to welcome everyone to the GateWalker’s Info Page. if this is your first time here, please review some of our previous articles so that you may understand the content of our current discussion.

Dan Harms raised some interesting points about the the use of the Simon Necronomicon as a spiritual system during one of our recent debates. This question may also have crossed the minds of both avid readers of the GateWalkers’s Page, as well as, new practitioners of the Simon Necronomicon. Therefore, I though that it might be useful to list some of the spiritual practices of the Necronomicon Tradition for newcomers and the initiated.

Before we begin this discussion, it is necessary for me to state that there has been a lot of misinformation concerning the occult arts spreading throughout the internet and “new age “books as of late.  I am certain that the origin of this situation lies in the fact that many who attracted to the occult arts have misguided intent. Simon was aware of this problem as well. In the introduction of the Simon Necronomicon, under the subheading, The Devil, Simon makes the following observation:

“For, as it is said in one of man’s most ancient of Covenants, the Emerald Table, “As Above, So Below”. Man’s power to alter the nature of his environment must develop simultaneously with his ability to master his inner environment, his own mind his psyche, soul, spirit. Perhaps, then, the lunar landing was the first collective initiation for humanity, which will bring it one step closer to a beneficial Force that resides beyond the race of the “cruel celestial spirits”, past the Abyss of Knowledge. Yet, he must remember that the occult powers that accompany magickal attainment are ornamental only, indications of obstacles overcome on the Path to Perfection, and are not to be sought after in themselves, for therein lies the truth Death.”

It is very sad to see that most people involved in the occult arts are not aware of the theme of the Greater Mysteries and wind up hurting themselves in the process of “dabbling” and joining occult orders whose sole purpose is bent on seeing some sort of “miraculous” things occur just because a ritual is performed. The evidence of supernatural phenomena and how it enters your experience is not the goal of the Greater Mysteries, but perfection of self is. There is no value in ritual if  one has no relationship with the deity that is being called.  The purpose of occult initiations is to open up a relationship with the entities that one will use in their occult practice. The idea that some entity, which is over 2,000 years old is going to help someone who is under four decades old just because they can read a passage out of a book is simply stupid. This is why the Simon Necronomicon includes a path of self-initiation.  It is a complete system.

The next hangup that many have in the occult community is the use of money to acquire books or to pay dues to a credible occult organization.  One has to be careful because there are a lot of scams out there. Do your research and check references before aligning with any group, whether it is free to join, or there are membership fees. Membership fees are often used by serious occult organizations to screen out the mere curious from those who are serious about the Greater Mysteries. This principle also applies to the spiritual world as well. Every deity requires some sort of sacrifice, whether its prayerful devotion, bread, or etc. If the said occult organization is an actual physical manifestation of a spiritual one then they have every right to imitate their ruling deity’s action by charging membership fees. Time is money and if a person doesn’t see the need to reimburse someone who as taken their own time to help someone understand a valuable practice, it just further proof that selfish people still exist in the world. While people may believe that they can escape their actions, it must be understood that regardless if a person is walking a dark or light path, success in the occult world lies entirely of virtue. If you are looking for a reputable “occult organization”  where you can really gain some good insight into the Greater Mysteries then look into The Temple of the Vampire. Now let us begin to look at some spiritual practices of the Necronomicon Tradition

Morning Prayer

There are many prayers listed in the Simon Necronomicon, sometimes they are called “incantations. However, there is one prayer that is specifically to be done during the day. The best time for it is when we awaken in the morning. It is mentioned in the beginning of the Second Testimony of the Mad Arab:

“UR! NIPPUR!
ERIDU! KULLAH!
 KESH! LAGASH!
SHURUPPAL SELAH!

Day of Living, Rising Sun
Day of Plenty, gracious Sun
Day of Perfect, Grand Delight
Day of Fortune, Brilliant Night
O Shining Day!
O Laughing Day!
O Day of Life, and Love and Luck!
Seven Oldest, Wisest Ones!
Seven Sacred, Learned Ones!
Be my Guardians, polished Swords
Be my Watchful, patient Lords
Protect me from the Rabishu
O Shining, Splendorous APHKALLHU
!”

This is the Morning Prayer of the Necronomicon Tradition. It is a way of acknoledging and thank the Gate deities for another day and a reminder of our relationship with them. This is not something made up in the mind of Simon, but it is an actual ancient Mesopotamian prayer. If we look further into the APHKALLHU we can get a sense that this is a protective prayer.

The term APHKALLHU derives from the term Apkallu, which Wikipedia gives the following definition:

“The Abgal, (Akkadian: Apkallu) are seven Sumerian demigods said to have been created by the god Enki (Akkadian: Ea) to give civilization to mankind. They served as priests of Enki and as advisors or sages to the earliest “kings” or rulers of Sumeria before the flood. They are credited with giving mankind the me (moral code), the crafts, and the arts. They were seen as fish-like men who emerged from the sweet water Apsu. They are commonly represented as having the lower torso of a fish, or dressed as a fish. They have also been depicted with wings, having either a human head or an eagle’s head.[1]

Adapa (U-an, Oannes) was the first of the Apkallu. The others were U-an-dugga, En-me-duga, En-me-galanna, En-me-buluga, An-enlilda, and Utu-abzu.”

This prayer works very well for protection and prosperity and should be recited twice a day. There are more spiritual practice that are given to us in the Second Testimony of the Mad Arab:

“and the Priest must calm them and take this book, of which he must make a copy in his own,..”

This is also emphasized in the Magan Text:

“I copied these words down in my tongue and kept them faithfully these many years, and my own copy will go with me to the place where I will go..”

It is here that we find one of the most important practices of the Necronomicon Path-Meditation. Before we go ahead any further it is necessary for us to a clear understanding about what meditation really means as it has been often misunderstood in the Western World. The etymology of the term meditation is as follows:

“The word meditation comes from the Indo-European root med-, meaning “to measure.”[1][2] It entered English as meditation through the Latin meditatio, which originally indicated any type of physical or intellectual exercise, then later evolved into the more specific meaning “contemplation.”

It is with this understanding of the etymology that we are able to look deeper into the term meditation. There are many ‘new age” groups that will emphasize that meditation is a practice wherein the practitioner goal is to empty the mind, but this is not the meaning of the term amongst serious student of the occult and Eastern mysticism, as found in Taoism and etc. In the East, meditation was always considered an activity. It was strongly believed that if a person left the mind empty it could allow negative forces to enter. It is with this understanding that meditative practices were formed, such s the Tea Ceremony and Chinese caligraphy. Thus, the Mad Arab’ made it a requirement  each Initiate copied the text over in their own hand, which is also a meditative exercise that is just as important as the GateWalking rituals of self-initiation.

Jesus Christ is Lucifer Part 2: The GateWalking Avatar

Greetings!

Welcome to the GateWalker’s Info Page. If this is your first time here please review some of our previous articles first, so that you can understand the depths of our present discussion. Readers of this article concerning Jesus Christ, are first advised to read our previous discussion concerning the Christ found under the topic Jesus is Lucifer.

It is evident with one quick google search that many critics of the Simon Necronomicon will accuse Simon of inventing the GateWalking Process of Initiation and further assert that it is not a part of the Ancient Mysteries. However, through a close examination of the gospel account we san come to the realization that jesus was a GateWalker and took the form of his initiation just as it is described in the Simon Necronomicon.

The Simon Necronomicon states that \”INANNA TAKES HER OWN FOR HER OWN.\” This is probably one of the most misunderstood passage in the Necronomicon. What is meant by Inanna taking her own for her own, has a lot to do with initiation. We have discussed this many times on previous pages. The link shown prior, INANNA TAKES HER OWN FOR HER , gives a full meaning as to what this passage remains and how it relates to the starseeds.

Let us now make a comparative study of the gospel accounts and the Simon Necronomicon to show that Jesus also went through the process of GateWalking.

The NANNA Gate = Immacualte Conception.

Luke Chapter 1: 34-38 describes Mary as being a Virgin. This compares greatly with Ishtar (Inanna) who was also described as the Virgin Mother of Tammuz. It is also interesting to note that it is Gabriel who was used to impregnate the Virgin Mary. Gabriel in Judaic Kabbalistic Tradition is considered to be the Angel of Yesod, or what some may call the Sphere of the Moon. In the Qliphotic Tradition, corresponds to Gamaliel, which is ruled by Lilith.

I find that it is no coincidence that the Angel Gabriel is associated with the same Sphere whose Qliphotic correspondence is Lilith, Queen of the Sucubus and Incubus. It is evident that the Angel Gabriel acted in the same manner as an Incubus, but without the ‘dark asthetics.’

The Simon Necronomicon the following about the Nanna Gate:

“The God of the Moon is the God NANNA. He is the Father of the Zonei…and possesses the secret of the tides of blood.”

The Babylonian Tammuz was known to Sumerians as Dumuzi “the only-begotten Son” or “Son of the Blood.”

NEBO Gate = jesus visits temple at 12 years of age

Luke Chapter 2 describes Jesus visit to the temple at the age of 12. Jesus was said to have been in the temple asking the “doctors” questions and listening to them. It is interesting to note that a “doctor” is a mercurial aspect. Enki, in the Sumerian Tradition was associated with Mercury, and is also relative to the medical field. Later, this association was designated to Nebo by the Babylonians. When mary and Joseph finally found Jesus in the temple, he is noted to have said:

was ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”

Here we can also see another correspondence to the Necronomicon Tradition. Jesus was 12 years old at the time he first conducted his Father’s business.’ The Simon Necronomicon mentions the following:

“The number of NEBO is twelve..”

In the INVOCATION OF THE NEBO GATE, Nebo is described as the Master of Chemical Science. This would correspond to what we call a “doctor” today. Also the Mad Arab states in the Book of Entrance that ‘Enki is our Father.

Gates of Ishtar to Adar + Jesus Baptism

We have no Biblical record of Jesus in the years that followed until he reaches the age of 29 1/2 years when he gets baptized. Interestingly, it takes Saturn 29 1/2 years to orbit around the Sun! Before  one Walks the Gate of Adar they must venture into Ganzir, or DAATH as some would call it. Therefore, it is when we reach Adar that we have descended into the foul pit and arise with a new understanding. I find it interesting that Christians show their dedication to their Lord by being submerged underneath the water and then rising up from it and this process must be done with the aid of someone who is already initiated like John the Baptist.

Matthew Chapter 3 covers much concerning Jesus’ baptism. In this account we find that after Jesus was baptized, God’s spirit descended upon them as a dove. Interestingly, a dove was the sacred symbol of Ishtar, It seems that after jesus was baptized by John, he went on to fulfill his work. jesus no longer needed John. This would mean then that John acted in the same manner as the Watcher acts in the initiatory rites of the Simon Necronomicon. While these points may be refuted by some as mere coincidence, the question still remains as to Why would the God of the whole universe use the same symbols in his worship that the “pagan” people who held the Jews in captivity used centuries earlier? I think we all know the answer to that :)

Enochian Meaning of the Term “Mad Arab”

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone to the GateWalker’s Info Page. If this is your first time here, please review some of our previous articles located in the menu section first.

In some of our previous posts, we spoke about the connections between the Simon Necronomicon Current and Enocnian Magic, which can be seen here. After posting these articles, a few GateWalkers (Asarus), who have been working with the Rites of the Ancient Ones, have also stumbled across some interesting insights concerning this subject.

I was recently contacted by an Ancient One via telephone. We often share experiences and have been diligently working on the mystical aspects of the Simon Necronomicon Current as revealed in the Urillia Text workings. He told me that he was in one of the meditative practices of the Ancient Ones. During this meditation he was able to see the trials of the Mad Arab, and also noticed the Mad Arab melting away. In this ‘trance” he was told to look up the term Mad Arab in Enochian and it would reveal a new perspective in the Necronomicon Tradition, and he did just that.

After he discussed his experience with me, I decided to do the same, and the result shed a new light on the identity of the Mad Arab, as well as, reinforcing some of the material that we discussed earlier.  so before we get into the deeper aspects of this discussion, it is imperative that we define the term Mad Arab in Enochian. Let us look further into this matter

Enochian                                                    English Meaning

Mad                                                                    God or Your God

Ar                                                                        That

Ab                                                                       Daughter of Light

Form the above Enochian Translation, we can easily see that the term Mad Arab means Your God that Daughter of Light. This would seem to indicate that the Mad Arab was indeed Ishtar. Now I must remind the reader that Ishtar is another aspect of Tiamat. We discussed this in one our previous articles entitled The Qliphothic Tree of Transformation Part 2. The term Ishtar is a metaphor describing a Class of Watchers, which is identical to the Bridegroom Class that Jesus (Enki) was seeking to resurrect in the Christian Mythologies. I would also like to make aware to the reader that there are some very good articles that explore the depths of Ishtar’s identification with Tiamat that can be viewed here and here.

Now that we have discovered that the term Mad Arab is a reference to Ishtar, let us compare the  parts of the Simon Necronomicon to see if it also gives some references to this as well.

First, it should be obvious that the Mad Arab, according to his/her First Testimony, is in the same condition that Ishtar was in when she visited Cutha. The Mad Arab concludes his First Testimony by revealing to us that “the entire host of Ereshkigal lies waiting, dreaming, drooling for my departure.” We find this statement is an echo of what appears in the Magan Text:

“ERESHKIGAL rejoiced.”

There is also something interesting that can be gleamed for the Mad Arab’s First Testimony, which is contained in the Mad Arab’s opening words:

“I have seen One Thousand-and-One Moons and surely this is enough for the span of a man’s life, though it is said the Prophets lived much longer.”

The life-span of the “Prophets,” that the Mad Arab is referring to is none other than Enoch who lived for 365 years, which is a reference to the Solar Rites, since there are 365 days in a Solar year, and Enoch was 7th in line from Adam symbolizing the 7 days of a week. However, if we keep in mind that there are 13 moons in one Solar year and divide 13 into 1,001- we would get the number 77, or 77 years.

The sum of our calculation, being 77 years, is a metaphor. The Mad Arab opens up his First testimony by stating that he has “seen One Thousand-and-One moons.” Later on in his Testimony he states the following:

“But now, after One Thousand-and-One moons of the journey,  The maskim nip at my heels, the Rabishu pull at my hair.”

Here we can see that the “One Thousand-and-One moons” is not the actual time that the Mad Arab lived, but was a metaphor for the time that he spent as an Initiate of the Necronomicon Tradition.  There are other factors that will help us to see that the “Mad Arab” was a personification of the Ishtar Class of Watchers.

The Simon Necronomicon: A Spiritual Martial Art.

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone here to the Simon Necronomicon GateWalker’s Info Page.! If this is your first time visiting us, please take some time to review our previous pages to understand the place in the current discussion.

I would like to further expand on our recent discussion concerning the workings of the Simon Necronomicon as a spiritual system. I will answer some of the questions and opinions made concerning the topic herein by both Dan Harms and Venus Satanas. In an earlier post entitled The Simon Necronomicon as a Spiritual System author Dan Harms provided his definition of what a spiritual system is. Harms makes some interesting points within the confines of this definition. Harms also commented on my Interview With Historian Denny Sargent. I am sure that Harms is confident that he is indeed expressing a noble intention. However, Mister Dan Harms still has left a few open doors and questions concerning his own opinions by only focusing on certain sections of the Interview. For example Harms still hasn’t responded to Denny Sargent’s statement that reads as follows:

“..And I had and have utter respect for Simon a writer but also as a mage….My MA is focused on ancient history and I did a lot of my research on Egypt and Mesopotamia- so what I can say, as a historian, is that Simon’s work is BASED on Sumerian and other Mesopotamian magickal systems, images and incantations. It is my opinion that he was reviving a Sumerian magickal tradition within the ’schema’ of the Necronomicon- and maybe he (and Herman) figured that they could make some  $ as well…:)”

Here we see a perspective of a historian that does make note that the Simon Necronomicon is consistent with Ancient Sumerian and Mesopotamian  magickal systtems. Yet I would also like to remind the reader that this is an observation that is made by someone who is not a GateWalker, but has a strong foundation in ancient history and its magickal systems. Sargent does talk about the dangers of the system, but these dangers lie in any magickal system wherein the Initiate has not properly prepared themselves for the work.  In another recent post entitled The Simon Necronomicon the Method of Self-Initiation Into Enochian Magick we discover that it was Herman Slater’s idea and not Simon, to include some of the Lovecraft Mythologies into what is known today as the Simon Necronomicon. This would mean that Simon’s approach in writing the Simon Necronomicon was not with the intent to capitalize off of Lovecraft’s fame. This is the issue that Mister Dan Harms has to come to terms with. I am sure that Harms is trying to reach a “noble” conclusion for his own spiritual development that neither I, or anyone else can speak on. Harms has to do this within his own sacred confines, and by doing so Harms may be able to take the Dan Harms Machine into a greater place. Now let us look at another question from a Miss Venus Satanas.

Although Miss Satanas has falsely suggested that I deleted her post (view the comment in Dan Harms response The Simon Necronomicon as a Spiritual System, Part 2) with the following words:

“I took a chance that he would delete my post because I was direct with my questioning..”

I am curious as to why Miss Satanas would make such a statement. This is a very honest forum, which is why I have been open to answer all critical thoughts of any opinions expressed about information that is published here, whether it is Mister Dan Harms, Rev Xul, Dan Clore, John Gonce Wisdom III,  Andrew Pernick, or any other inhabitants of the New Age Arkham Asylum, that continues to threaten the peaceful community of GateWalkers for no reason at all by their unwarranted and unnecessary biased opinions.  Since Miss Satanas has expressed some doubt concerning the intentions of this page without reason, we will carefully comment on some of the staememtn that she has made, which can be viewed in the article Is The Dan Harms Machine Breaking Down?

Miss Venus Satanas has a very beautiful website, which one can view for themselves here- Venus Satanas Website. She provides her readers with very useful insights and it is an excellent source for anyone walking along the path of Indiviualistic Satanic thought. I first posted a link to Miss Venus Satanas website in my response to Harms in the article “Is the Dan Harms Machine Breaking Down?” to illustrate that their are individuals who have found spiritual refreshment in systems that do not completely match the criteria that Harms mentioned in his article. Yet she has been able to find a system of spirituality that may not be popular, but is still able to be a source of good encouragement and it is for this reason that I posted her link into my article. I actually enjoy her writings, yet her system does not fall into the confines of what Harms defines as spiritual.

Miss Venus Satanas made following comment in respone to my Is The Dan Harms Machine Breaking Down?:

“all you seem to be doing is chattering  about the idea and not presenting us with something real and useful. What would this system be like? What would it accomplish? enlighten us, please.”

I wonder if Miss Venus Satanas has read all of the material on the GateWalker’s Page for her to make the statement that we are not presenting anything “real” or and “useful?” Interesting. However, Miss Venus Satanas has asked a couple of questions that it would be very “useful” to look into.

First of all the true ancient concept of what spirituality would and would not accomplish is obscene. Spirituality is the study of natural principles and applying them in your life. It is not something that is separate of life. It is the study of life by understanding how the world of nature and the subtle energies of life move within the world and within our own being. What one gains from working with the Simon Necronomicon is based on ones’ intent with the system and this is true of all sysyems. I can relate the system that is found in the Simon Necronomicon, with others systems from Christianity to Yoruba, and other systems. The Simon Necronomicon is useful for transformation and alignment with the natural order of things. The rituals are based on the Moon Cycles, which cause an alignment to lunar, planetart, and stellar energies. Most GateWalkers experience a strong lucidity during the full moon and other moon phases naturally. The connection that the GateWalker has with the stars is a unique relationship within itself. Usually visions and dreams occur when certain stellar changes take place, and how it will effect your life.  The GateWalker is thereby able to make a petition to the natural starry forces and make a more good outcome of  what has been shown to them or accept what has been shown to them. This relationship with the deities in the Simon Necronomicon works in two way. it first exposes certain flaws of the Initiate’s persona, and by doing so, it shows how the Initiate may be blocked from a certain goal in life due to a certain activity or addiction. The Initiate is then given the emotional perspective of how such action is inappropriate and by correcting it other aspects of life are opened up to that individual. So it does help in transforming the person. Yet this is where the system can be dangerous. I have witnessed people who have attempted to use the system with the wrong intent -go insane. This was due only to the fact that the Initiate’s pride, or false ego, would get in the way, and certain things that needed to be corrected were just swept underneath the rug because they refused to see themselves operating in a way that was harmful to themselves or others. Yet they would continue to beckon upon the deities to grant them certain blessings. Since they could not except the their true nature that was being exposed to them, they were  consumed in that same pride. This is the curse of Enki, and this is why I stated earlier that each Initiate may get something different from the system because we all have different blockages in our live on our path to perfection that we have to personally work out. Secondly, the system is a great source of magickal power that can be worked to obtain many things when one has the proper perspective. Most GateWalkers have acquired different magickal gifts over time. yet by the time these gifts are obtained their intent on how they are used changes from one of selfishness to one of purity.

I have no issues with the system, nor I am trying to prove the value of the system to anyone. I have simply provided a resource for those who are uninitiated and newcomers unto this path. There are times where I may talk about “Mister Dan Harms” in a joking manner yet I still pray for Harms and his family (especially his younger brother) that they may be protected through such turbulent times. I look at the debates between Harms and I, as a sport that can also work as a resource of knowledge. I have even used some information from the Necronomicon Files, the writings of Dan Clore, and others opposed to the system, as resources for some of my informative blogs concerning the system itself.

I have stated that the Simon Necronomicon is a martial art because of its structure. Once one has been mentored by an older GateWalker they may use their magickal art in a way that is different than another GateWalker, yet they are still honoring the Necronomicon Tradition and are a part of a rare heritsge. The GateWalker is one who has obtained a personal relationship with the deities that are written about and studied by anthropologist and scholars. Therefore, the GateWalking Community is like a family of brothers and sister and the parents are the deities. This being the case, one GateWalker may differ in their experience with a particular deity than another GateWalker may have, but these are things concerning ones intergration of their personal experience with the deity that is different than another GateWalker. It is like a brothers’ and sisters’ opinoon of the parent in question- while it may be somewhat different they still repect the parental authority that the parent has and know how some of the parent’s attributes are seen in their own lives since they are progeny of them. We have been able to provide insights on the GateWalker’s Page about the Sumerian and Mesopotamian deities that is not found in books but it is still consistent with the ancient mythologies due to such.

Although some may consider themselves “critics” of our heritage, the GateWalking Community still falls under the western definition of a religious system. Wikipedia gives us the following definition on the term Religion.

“a religion is an organized approach to human spirituality which usually encompasses a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices, often with a supernatural or transcendent quality, that give meaning to the practitioners experiences of life through reference to a higher power, God or gods, or ultimate truth.”

Practitioners of the Simon Necronomicon fall directly under this definition. I am of the personal belief that the Simon Necronomicon has been attacked over recent years due to the grimoire’s power. In some aspects the work of individuals like Dan Harms, work in a beneficial way since it deters the ignorantly-curious from working with such a powerful work and that could injure a person who is not reponsible in the Necronomicon Tradition. I often liken the work of the GateWalker to the Ninja as seen in the movie Shinobi and I encourage every GateWalker to view this film because it shows how a group with real magickal power can be feared and why. So work in a responsible way.

Is the Dan Harms Machine Breaking Down?

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone to the GateWalker’s Info Page. If this is your first time here, I suggest that you review our previous articles in order to understand our current discussion.

Recently, Dan Harms and I have been having an ongoing debate concerning the Simon Necronomicon as a spiritual system. Dan Harms comments can be seen here:

http://danharms.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/the-simon-necronomicon-as-a-spiritual-system/

Harms opens his argument with the following words:

“Still, without practicing the magick of the Simon Necronomicon, how can I make a judgment as to its spiritual usefulness?

Frankly, while understanding of a system might come from practice, it is nonetheless possible for an outsider to make some determinations about a spirituality.  I make no claims to deep spirituality, but over the years I have met people of many different faiths who I respect, and I think I’ve learned something about them.”

While Dan makes the “honest” statement that understanding of a system comes from practicing it, he continues to justify his previous critical observations of the Simon Necronomicon by trying to prove how an “Outsider” can judge a system spiritually. I agree with Harms to a point. An individual can determine whether or not a spiritual practice is for them or not by reviewing the system’s main text, Bible, or etc. Yet if the inquiring individual decides that a certain set of spiritual practices is not for them, this does not mean that the system is invalid either. For example, there are millions of people who are member of the Catholic Church, and while the Church has a very large membership, a review of Catholic history will show that the Church is also responsible for the deaths of millions of people. Despite the massive genocide committed by the Catholic Church, many people have successfully integrated this system into their lives, and have made tremendous spiritual gains. This can also be said of other religions, such as Judaism and Islam. Yet all of these religions are considered “spiritual” by their practitioners. Therefore,  the choice of how one expresses their spirituality and the system they use to do this is entirely a personal choice. Harms continues:

“First, it often helps to listen to what others practicing a system have to say about it.  For example, we might look to the words of Denny Sargent that Warlock has kindly posted:”

I am not certain what Harms means by the statement quoted above since Denny Sargent is not a GateWalker! It is here that we find Harms’ statement to be quite deceptive. The whole idea of the Interview with Sargent was to get a vibe from someone who was around during the time that the Simon Necronomicon was being edited. Therefore, Denny Sargent’s Interview is one of an “Outsider’s perspective.” Deeny Sargent is a Historian and has been around the Occult Community for quite some time. His Interview is available at this link:

http://warlockasylum.wordpress.com/interview-with-denny-sargent-a-friend-of-the-authors-of-the-simon-necronomicon/

Out of all the things that Sargent mentioned in the Interview, Harms tries to validate his position by taking a few points out of context ad posts them in a certain sequence to give his readers a certain message. This is not investigative journalism. Harms completely ignores what the Historian Sargent states in the beginning of the Interview:

“I think it is a usable system that has tenuous historical roots, but nevertheless is quite real in many ways. And I had and have utter respect for Simon as a writer but also as a mage. He is a very very bright guy, very creative and has the rare gift of renewing and revitalizing long forgotten (or never manifested!) magickal rites and symbols so they are both usable and effective. However- I do not think that the Necronomicom itself as such ever was ‘real’ until manifested by Lovecraft and others like Simon. My MA is focused on ancient history and I did a lot of my research on Egypt and Mesopotamia- so what I can say, as a historian, is that Simon’s work is BASED on Sumerian and other Mesopotamian magickal systems, images and incantations. It is my opinion that he was reviving a Sumerian magickal tradition within the ’schema’ of the Necronomicon- and maybe he (and Herman) figured that they could make some $ as well…:)”

Sargent is a learned Historian who respects “Simon” not only as an Occultist, but a Mage. Sargent has a MA  in ancient history and states that ‘Simon’s work is BASED on Sumerian and other Mesopotamian magickal systems.’ I think that it is clear that Sargent has great respect for the Simon Necronomicon as a metaphysical system.

Harms continues with trying to justify his errors by quoting the following form the Interview:

“First, it often helps to listen to what others practicing a system have to say about it.  For example, we might look to the words of Denny Sargent that Warlock has kindly posted:

Before you do one single thing in that book, read the whole thing, get some books on Sumerian & Mesopotamian mythology and read them etc etc. Then ask yourself- why do I want to mess with THIS syatem?

or

One should have already developed in another magickal system before jumping into the Necronomicon, IMHO.

or

It doesn’t matter what system it is these are your steps to awareness via magick- if Simon’s system helps you do any of these (Im very doubtful about it helping with [talking to one's Holy Guardian Angel]) Go for it!

or even

BTW- I had a magickal friend in NYC who died horribly in the 1980s- the last thing he was doing was this system- he had the sigils all over his room- utterly disorganized and chaotic- gave me the creeps- a month later he was dead. Not for the novice. Not for the dabbler. Not for the drugged or imbalanced. Not for the weak-willed or silly.

If one reads accounts like this, one might be right to ask whether the system might not be as great as its proponents suggest.”

Harms here makes a couple of quotes from my Interview with Denny Sargent, yet in doing so, he also shows that the system that is laid out in the Simon Necronomicon is quite real and has quite a tremendous power behind it. This is what Sargent was implying when the Interview is read in its proper context. Notice the complete context of Sargent’s words:

“Know ALL the gods and spirits in that book. Do your homework. Don’t be sarcastic, stoned, slack or silly- you will get burned. Before you do one single thing in that book, read the whole thing, get some books on Sumerian & Mesopotamian mythology and read them etc etc. Then ask yourself- why do I want to mess with THIS syatem? What about Norse, Tantric, Qabala, Egyptian, Celtic….etc- systems? Most people seem drawn to the Necronomicon due to some sort of Goth ‘demonic’ Lovecraftian fixation- for those people Id suggest a role-playing game like Call of Cthulhu etc…. My #1 suggestion? That everyone achieves a clear connection with your Guardian Angel (Spirit, Self etc) before doing Simon’s Necronomicon system. That said- if you are dead set (!) on using his Necronomicin, then do so intelligently and with a clear plan- this is how the book is set use-step-by-step. The whole layer-by-layer pattern is important- don’t skit around and don’t be half-assed! Think of Crowley’s definition of magick:”

It is clearly evident that Historian Denny Sargent was stressing the importance for preparation before jumping into Simon Necronomics. It is a very serious step because the system will engage the practitioner with very serious powers.

Harms continues with trying to justify himself:

“Beyond that, if one speaks with the advocates for a spiritual system for some time, one starts to get a feel for how deep their spirituality is.  I’ve found questions such as these to be valuable:

  1. Does the person speak more about how their system has helped them, or about how those with other beliefs simply do not match up?
  2. When justifying their beliefs, does the person turn to its benefits to themselves or others, or appeal to an outside authority (history, a prophetic leader, etc.)?
  3. When challenged, does the person answer the question directly, or attempt evasion or appeal to authority?
  4. If they speak of being persecuted, do they mean losing their home, family, job, etc., or simply that others disagree with them?
  5. Does the person view their detractors with respect, or does he or she cast aspersions on their motives, suggest they are pawns of darker powers, or otherwise seek to emphasize personality and motives over substantive issues”

I can agree with Harms on some of his perspective listed above, yet my question to Harms is-Was this his perspective when he wrote the Necronomicon Files, since they couldn’t find a “serious practitioner at the time that the book was written?” at the time, how could they make the statements that they have in their observations, without first consulting someone who was practicing this system? It is interesting to note that at the time of posting this article, Harms had only one other individual to comment on his article. Venus Satanas stated the following:

“I really like your guidelines. you outline some important things to take into consideration, especially the ‘appeal to authority’. zealots want to shift responsibility onto their deities whenever something goes wrong. I tried the Simon magic method years ago. after a while, I thought myself insane for even wanting to try it. nothing really came of it, though. I considered it to be a failed effort, but at least I learned a few things about it. now, years later, i know that its a failed system. It happens in magic, i guess. I’ve had more results as always with satanic ritual, witchcraft and chaos magic.  Any system of magic could potentially be dangerous and destructive to the self – in the hands of someone who is imbalanced.”

I guess everybody can see now some of the friends that Harms considers to be part of a “spiritual system.” Just one look at “Venus Santanis’ website is a testament to this:

http://www.spiritualsatanist.com/

I can say the system in the Simon Necronomicon has been a great benefit to me. It is a spiritual “matial art” so it is often misunderstood by those who are not trained in it by someone with experience. This controversy reminds me of other mystical warriors who were critisized for their skill in Japan-the Shinobi. However, I will write a separate blog illustrating my point further. For now though, I think I can best sum up this post with the words of a good friend of mind who just happens to be the author of the Necronomicon Files:

“I believe that this illuminates a great deal of how the debate progresses on the Internet. When someone asks whether the Necronomicon is “real,” the sides are drawn between the Lovecraft fans, who believe that the Necronomicons on the market are inauthentic, and the magickal pratitioners, who insist that these Necronomicons may be useful magickallyeven if they are of recent origin….so the two sides are eventually paired off against each other upon what is essentially a non-issue…At the same time, even if we dismiss the claims that the published Necronomicons are sources of magickal power, we cannot dismiss that they do have the power to change peple’s beliefs, and their perceptions of the world.”

I think my good friend and author has provided us with enough information that indeed the Simon Necronomicon does have the spiritual transformational power to make life something great!

The Dan Harms Machine Starts Again!

Greetings!

I would like to welcome you to the GateWalker’s  Page. If this your first time here I suggest that you review our previous articles first. Thank you and may Enki bless your path.

For those of us who are regular readers of the Page I am sure that you are more than familiar with the debates that have been staged between Dan Harms and myself. I am sure that many of our readers may at times wonder why these debates have continued? And what is the purpose of these debates? Initially, I thought it would be a good idea since most of the Simon Necronomicon debunkers echo the thesis that Dan Harms has presented in his wonderful work-the Necronomicon Files.  I am sure that Dan Harms could make more money for copyright infringements due to the copied information from his book that appears across numerous websites, than from the sales of the book itself. Its good to see that Harms has influenced so many people, but it is also sad that people are so dis empowered that they cannot formulate there own thesis. Yet I must admit on the opposite side of the coin, the GateWalker should be active in creating resources  to share their experiences. If people who are not working with the grimoire can fund websites to bash the Simon Necronomicon system, then why can’t GateWalkers do the same thing for those who support the Simon Necronomicon System? This is just my opinion. Sometimes an offering is best made to a god/goddess  by investing money in a virtual Temple that is formed by the Practitioner and in so doing their work aids in helping people understand how the system works. The Dan Harms Machine  has started its engine again by making a response to comment I made on a previous post, which can be seen here

I have no objections to any of the views that Harms or his Congress make concerning our spiritual path. I realize that most people adhere to a certain doctrine or spiritual practice after the opposition to it has ceased. Everyone is talking about the Knights Templar, Freemasons, Druids, and etc now, but would they have claimed these paths as there own when these groups were being persecuted? Probably not. Today, the GateWalker of the Simon Necronomicon is involved in a tradition that is not popular amongst the majority of people. It is not a Path that the New Age Culture  is happy to hear about. Some have asked me, why the Simon Necronomicon System is sounpopular? Well, besides the popularity of the Dan Harms thesis, there is something that Dan Harms may have not noticed. I have read about and been involved in many traditions before the Simon Necronomicon Tradition, including Gurdjieff, Buddhism, Sufism and Quantum Physics amongst others. However, with the advent of Wicca and a whole bunch of groups that parakeet legendary traditions, like the new Knights Templar, or the New Essences,  all these groups claim to be an extension of legendary traditions, which I find to be nothing more than a New Age form of Christianinty with Pagan aesthetics!  Today’s Occult Community is made up of organizations that compete for members. What usually happens is that the people who subscribe to these groups feel content only with being a member and are usually never able to establish a relationship with the actual energies that are revered. Occultism is the study of the emotional energies and how it can be used to affect reality. This emotional process has become replaced, not with a balance of logic, but with logical concepts that have no emotional charge.  Due to this perspective that now exits in the Occult Community, most of these groups have no magickal power and work more as a social network for people who respect a legendary magical system that did have power in the past. This is the real problem for those who have issues with  it, and those who don’t see this are those who are blind to this whole process.

I have no hidden animosity against the Dan Harms Machine. I am happy that he is able to pursue his path and assist others who have the same perspective. However, besides the logical debates that we have, I see something else beneficial in the written essays that we have made concerning each others perspectives-that is religious and spiritual freedom. Despite the notorious crimes that the Abrahamic Religions are guilty of, as seen from a brief overview of history, even critics of these faiths do not question there existence in a legal sense. The arguments that Dan Harms has presented in his essays, seem to suggest that the Simon Necronomicon should be banned. If Harms is successful in this, it could happen with other occult systems as well.

There is still much work to do in the Necronomicon Tradition, whether it is the Lovecraft Tradition, or the Simon Tradition, or the Tyson Tradition. Regardless of the Tradition, they still come from the same foundation, even in part.  Understanding the Simon Necronomicon Tradition cannot be done if one has not read Lovecraft. So regardless of the Tradition we all have some of the same foundation in our lineage.

Finally, I see no reason why Harms is alarmed that a GateWalker who has experience the forces of the Ancient Ones would feel engaged by his follies. Maybe Harms is being used in a negative way by them. Maybe he is being used in a positive way by them. We’ll see! What I can say though is that I do not fear what people are saying across the Internet.  My fear is the focus placed by those who think that it is dangerous. If these critics are writing essays to weaken any misunderstanding about what could be misinterpreted-that is fine. However, while I have made a friend in Dan Harms, I must ask him, how does he sleep at night? How can Harms sleep peacefully at night knowing that the legacy he is leaving behind, is one that could be blocking primordial energy from coming into our world The more people Dan Harms has convinced one less person that will not be calling upon those ancient, some modern, deities. I am sure Harms will have an answer for us soon. In view of all that has been stated in my this essay, I can only wonder what delight Harms takes in criticising those who are establishing a modern spiritual practice by incorporating ancient and modern deities? I guess the Dan harms Machine is much like the IRS, where it ignore Corporate crime to go after the Small Business owner. Dan harms in his recent post is trying to justify his evasion of criticising the Abrahamic Faiths that are guilty of mass murder. He would rather build his legacy by attacking  the True Occultist who was never popular in any phase of history.  I am sure that the Dan Harms Machine  has an answer for all of this. Harms feels that he is justified in propagating that the Simon Necronomicon is a hoax. I have asked Harms to Walk the Gates and experience the energies for himself and he has denied the offer. :) While Dan Harms seems to convince his followers that he is conducting some sort of sincere research in his examination of the Simon Necronomicon, much like an adolescent with a video camera attending the set of a porn movie, Harms has never interviewed any Practitioner of the Simon Necronomicon. Why hasn’t he done so? Maybe the Dan Harms Machine is afraid to admit the errors they have made in the past, time will tell. For now though, I must commend Harms on his endurance when it comes to practicing what he believes to be real. I wish there were more people in the world like him.

While Harms is struggling to answer the question that have come up in this discussion, there is another question that arises in all of this and probably the most difficult one to answer, DanHarms along with John Wisdom Gonce III, have stated on various occasions that they wrote the Necronomicon Files with the idea of clearing Lovecraft’s name of any harm brought to it by the Simon Necronomicon, yes Dan I heard the radio show all those years ago. If this was the spirit behind creating the Simon Necronomicon, then why wasn’t writers such as August Derleth, Robert Bloch, and others also held in review for where they may have taken some of the Lovecraft entities as opposed to what Lovecraft wrote about them? Although the Dan Harms Machine can be very witty at times, it a shame that it doesn’t possess that same magickal energy that the Big Red Machine once had when Pete Rose stole first base, but then again maybe it does, and maybe that is why it has gotten as far as it has. Regardless, of our differing perspectives, Dan Harms has become related to the Simon Necronomicon Tradition and in a way we are both connected to it. if you type in the words “simon Necronomicon” you will find more information appearing in the search engines that is Harms’ influenced than the Necronomicon itself. So even though we disagree we are still connected. Life is a bitch
