Papers In the Attic: The Simon Necronomicon GateWalker's Info Page

Essays written by Pratitioners of the Necronomicon Tradition

Some Reminders

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone here to the Simon Necronomicon GateWalker’s Page/ If this is your first time here, please review some of our previous article first in order to help you better understand our current phase of discussion.

I thought that it would be useful to talk about some useful resources for today’s GateWalker. GateWalking is not just something that you jump into. it does require preparation, especially in the fields of research and other mystical practices.  The GateWalker should first get familiar with the ancient myths of Mesopotamia. Another task that should be undertaken prior to GateWalking- is to get familiar with the works of Aleister Crowley and H.P. Lovecraft.

I find that some GateWalkers are not well-researched about the works of Lovecraft and this always seems to pose as a disadvantage later on in the work. For those of you here, reading this post, you may want to check out some of the observations made by Parker Ryan. Here is a link to Ryan’s work entitled; The Necronomicon Mythos According to HPL I think you will find this information very helpful since there are a few Lovecraft terms in the Simon Necronomicon.

THE QLIPHOTHIC TREE OF TRANSFORMATION PART 2: Understanding How The Qliphoth Appears In The Bible

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone to the GateWalker’s Page. If this is your first time here, I would suggest that you begin your journey by observing many of our previous articles listed in our menu.

Well, I thought that it would be a good time to return to a subject that is still rare amongst occultists-the Qliphothic Tree of Life. I would suggest to readers of this article that you review our previous article concerning the Qliphoth that can be found here:

http://warlockasylum.wordpress.com/understanding-the-four-directional-gates-part-1-the-spirits/understanding-the-four-directional-gates-part-6-enki-is-the-great-kutulu/the-qliphothic-tree-of-transformation-part-1-preserving-the-necronomicon-tradition/

Amazingly, one of the things that supports the Qliphothic Tree, as being the original Tree of Life, is the life account and sayings of Jesus Christ. If we turn our attention to the Biblical Tradition, we can see a wide range of evidence to support this. First let us take a look at the book of Genesis.

It has been known amongst Occultists for many years that there are certain men and women who are of alien origin. This subject has even found its way amongst the watered down version of the Dark Mysteries, also known as the New Age Movement, in its Star-seed theories. The Mad Arab also speaks about this in his First Testimony:

“Of the three carved symbols, the first is the sign of our Race from beyond the Stars, and is called ARRA in the tongue of the Scribe who taught it to me, an emissary of the Elder Ones. In the tongue of the eldest city of Babylon, it was UR. It is the Sigil of the Covenant of the Elder Gods, and when they see it, they who gave it to us, they will not forget us. They have sworn!”

Who is this Race from beyond the Stars? A brief comparison of ancient scripture and mythology will reveal the answer to us!

One of the most misunderstood Sumerian Myths that  relates to our discussion concerning the Qliphoth is the infamous Inanna’s Descent Into the Underworld. When we compare this Myth with the creation account that appears in the first chapter of Genesis, we gain a clearer understanding as to what the Myth is really talking about.

In the Sumerian Myth we first learn that Inanna/Ishtar is said to have went to the Underworld because of the death of her Brother-in-law, Gudgalana. Since the name Gudgalana means “Bull of Heaven,” it would make sense to connect his death with the slaying of the “Bull of Heaven” as found in the Gilgamesh epics, which occurred while Gilgamesh was traveling through the Cedar Forest also known as the Mountains of MASSHU.

Before Inanna makes her trip to the NetherWorld, she instructs her Watcher Ninsubur to go to Nanna, Enlil, and if these two refuse to help her in her escape of the NetherWorld, hen Ninsubur is to call upon Enki.:

“Holy Inana said to Ninšubur: “Come my faithful minister of E-ana, {my minister who speaks fair words, my escort who speaks trustworthy words} {(1 ms. has instead:) I am going to give you instructions: my instructions must be followed; I am going to say something to you: it must be observed}.”

32-36. “On this day I will descend to the underworld. When I have arrived in the underworld, make a lament for me on the ruin mounds. Beat the drum for me in the sanctuary. Make the rounds of the houses of the gods for me.”

37-40. “Lacerate your eyes for me, lacerate your nose for me. {(1 ms. adds 1 line:) Lacerate your ears for me, in public.} In private, lacerate your buttocks for me. Like a pauper, clothe yourself in a single garment and all alone set your foot in the E-kur, the house of Enlil.”

41-47. “When you have entered the E-kur, the house of Enlil, lament before Enlil: “Father Enlil, don’t let anyone kill your daughter in the underworld. Don’t let your precious metal be alloyed there with the dirt of the underworld. Don’t let your precious lapis lazuli be split there with the mason’s stone. Don’t let your boxwood be chopped up there with the carpenter’s wood. Don’t let young lady Inana be killed in the underworld.”"

48-56. “If Enlil does not help you in this matter, go to Urim. In the E-mud-kura at Urim, when you have entered the E-kiš-nu-ĝal, the house of Nanna, lament before Nanna: “Father Nanna, don’t let anyone kill your daughter in the underworld.

57-64. “And if Nanna does not help you in this matter, go to Eridug. In Eridug, when you have entered the house of Enki, lament before Enki: “Father Enki, don’t let anyone kill your daughter in the underworld.

65-67. “Father Enki, the lord of great wisdom, knows about the life-giving plant and the life-giving water. He is the one who will restore me to life.”

68-72. When Inana travelled on towards the underworld, her minister Ninšubur travelled on behind her. She said to her minister Ninšubur: “Go now, my Ninšubur, and pay attention. Don’t neglect the instructions I gave you.”

73-77. When Inana arrived at the palace Ganzer, she pushed aggressively on the door of the underworld. She shouted aggressively at the gate of the underworld: “Open up, doorman, open up. Open up, Neti, open up. I am all alone and I want to come in.”

78-84. Neti, the chief doorman of the underworld, answered holy Inana: “Who are you?” “I am Inana going to the east.” “If you are Inana going to the east, why have you travelled to the land of no return? How did you set your heart on the road whose traveller never returns?”

85-89. Holy Inana answered him: “Because Lord Gud-gal-ana, the husband of my elder sister holy Ereškigala, has died; in order to have his funeral rites observed, she offers generous libations at his wake — that is the reason.””

Neti then informs Ereshkigal of Inanna’s arrival, and also that she brought with her the “seven mes.” Interestingly, Samuel N. Kramer mentions in his book, entitled The Sumerians, that the word me, “seems to denote a set of rules and regulations assigned to each cosmic entity and cultural phenomena for the purpose of keeping it operating in accordance as is the plans laid down by the deity creating it.”  Now when we compare the following events of what happen to Inanna on her journey, with the first chapeter of Genesis, we get a clear definition of who this Race from beyond the Stars really is. It is amazing that Inanna had to give up a “me” a she passed through each Gate, or give up a creative power to the NetherWorld that was ruled by Ereshkigal, whose only planetary correspondent would be “Earth.” Earth and Venus are the only two feminine planets in our Solar System. We know that Venus is a planetary attribute of Inanna. This would mean that Earth must be attributed to Ninhursag (the bright side of Lamashtu). We discussed this on our blog page in this article:

http://warlockasylum.wordpress.com/the-simon-necronomicon-pantheon-part-1-understanding-lammashta/question-from-our-readers-who-is-the-goddess-whom-no-one-worshippeth/

I must also mention that while Ninhursag and Lamashtu are both different sides of the same deity,  who are both described as a lady that roars, the MAGAN Text also describes Ereshkigal as roaring:

“The Eye upon the Throne took flight
ERESHKIGAL roared and summoned NAMMTAR”

Therefore, when Inanna descended into the NetherWorld, she was relinquishing her me to the Earthly realm. Keeping this in mind, we could now make the comparison between the Genesis account of creation and  Inaanna’s Descent into the Underworld.. I would suggest that the reader investigates various legends and versions of the Sumerian Myth concerning Inanna’s Descent into the Underworld. For the rest of this discussion we will be using the account that is found in the MAGAN Text entitled “Of the Sleep Of ISHTAR, which is not a basterdized version of Inanna’s Descent Into the NetherWorld, but a treaty in Initiation.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. “Gen 1:1-5

One may wonder how the above Biblical passage relates to Inanna’s Descent Into he NetherWorld? Well, if we look closely at the passage, we find the terms “evening and morning” after every creative day, even the day when, according to Biblical lor, there were no luminaries in the sky. The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics Part 13 by James Hastings, makes this observation on page 432:

“The identity of Venus as morning star with Venus as evening star was known in the Assyrian period, and probably much earlier. There are numerous official reports of the astrologers that speak of Ishtar as morning and evening star” (Jastrow, ii. 612)

What we also find interesting is that the Biblical accounts describes the “evening” before the “morning” after each creative day. Ishtar as the “evening star” indicates her warlike aspect. This would mean that the Biblical Creation Account in the first chapter of Genesis was actually taken from Inanna’s Descent into the NetherWorld.  Although, some may find it odd, as to why parts of the Sumerian Myth would appear in an account about creation, if we reflect upon the idea that the first chapter of Genesis is vastly different from the Creation account that appears in the second chapter of Genesis, may explain ithis oddity. Taking into consideration that the first chapter of Genesis is a description of the Watcher-Class’ Descent into the Underworld. This Watcher–Class is collectively described as Ishtar in some of the Sumerian Myths. The ARRA Sign is a five-pointed star,.  This was evidently the symbol of the Watcher-Class known as Ishtar. The word “star” is a derivative of ISHTAR. This is what is referred to in the Liber AL, where it states that ‘Every man and every woman is a star.’ The second chapter of Genesis would refer to the creation of Man by Enlil or Yahweh.  The first chapeter of Genesis does not describe “man” as being created from the ground, and it seems to imply a multiplicity of  couples and not just one couple, as found in the second chapter. This would also mean that the Watcher –Class came into this realm through the Qliphothic Tress. Notice the comparison:

“The God of the Moon is the God NANNA. He is Father of the Zonei, and the Eldest of the Wanderers. He is long of beard, and bears a wand of lapis lazuli in his palm, and possesses the secret of the tides of blood. His colour is Silver. His Essence is to be found in Silver, and in camphor, and in those things bearing the sign of the Moon. He is sometimes called SIN. His Gate is the first you will pass in the rituals that follow. His Step on the Ladder of Lights is also Silver”

Notice the connection between the first day of Genesis and the NANNA Gate:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. “Gen 1:1-5

Now let us observe how this relates to the Of The Sleep of ISHTAR in the Magan Text:

At the First Gate

NINGHIZHIDDA removed the Crown
The Great Crown of Her head he took away
And ISHTAR asked
Why, Serpent, has thou removed my First Jewel?
And the Serpent answered
Thus is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time,
The Rules of the Lady of KUTU.
Enter the First Gate.
(excerpt from the Magan Text)

Now let us look at the Second day of Creation:

“The God of Mercury is NEBO. He is a very old spirit, having a long beard, and is the guardian of the Gods, as well as the keeper of the knowledge of Science. He wears a crown of one hundred horns, and the long robe of the Priest. His colour is blue. His Essence is in that metal known as Quicksilver, and is sometimes also found in sand, and in those things bearing the sign of Mercury. His Gate is the Second you will pass in the rituals that follow. His Step on the Ladder of Lights is blue.”

“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.” Gen 1:6-8

“And the Second Gate

NINNGHIZHIDDA removed the Wand
The Wand of Lapis Lazuli he took away
And ISHTAR asked
Why, NETI, has thou removed my Second Jewel?
And NETI answered
Thus it is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time
The Decrees of the Lady of KUTU.
Enter the Second Gate.” (

Now let us examine the Third Day of Creation:

“The Goddess of Venus is the most excellent Queen INANNA, called of the Babylonians ISHTAR. She is the Goddess of Passion, both of Love and of War, depending upon her sign and the time of her appearance in the heavens. She appears as a most beautiful Lady, in the company of lions, and partakes of a subtle astral nature with the Moon God NANNA. When they are in agreement, that is, when their two plants are auspiciously arranged in the heavens, it is as two offering-cups split freely in the heavens, to rain the sweet wine of the Gods upon the earth. And then there is great happiness and rejoicing. She sometimes appears in armour, and is thereby a most excellent guardian against the machinations of her sister, the dread Queen ERESHKIGAL of KUR. With the Name and Number of INANNA, no Priest need fear to walk into the very depths of the Underworld; for being armed, in Her armour, he is similar to the Goddess. It was thus that I descended into the foul pits that lie gaping beneath the crust of the earth, and commanded demons.

She is similarly the Goddess of Love, and bestows a favourable bride upon any man who desires it, and who makes the proper sacrifice.

BUT KNOW THAT INANNA TAKES HER OWN FOR HER OWN, AND THAT ONCE CHOSEN BY HER NO MAN MAY TAKE ANOTHER BRIDE.

Her colour is the purest White. Her manifestation is in the metal Copper, and also in the most beautiful flowers of a field, and in the saddest death of the battlefield, which is that field’s fairest flower. Her Gate is the Third you will pass in the rites that follow, and in which place you will be of a heart to stay; but turn you face to the road that leads beyond, for that is your genuine goal, unless the Goddess choses you. Her Step on the Ladder of Lights, built of old in Babylon and at UR, is White.

This is her Seal, which you must engrave on Copper, Venus being exalted in the Heavens, with no one about watching its construction. Being finished, it is to be wrapped in the purest silk and lain safely away, only to be removed when need arises, at any time.”

“And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.” Gen 1:9-13

“At the Third Gate

NINNGHIZHIDDA removed the Jewels
The Jewels around her neck he took away
And ISHTAR asked
Why, Gatekeeper, has thou removed my Third Jewel?
And the Gatekeeper answered
Thus it is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time,
The Decrees of the Lady of KUTU
Enter the Third Gate.
(excerpt from the Magan Text)

Now let us observe the Fourth Day of Creation:

“This God of the Sun is the Lord SHAMMASH, son of NANNA. He is seated upon a throne of gold, wearing a crown of two horns, holding a sceptre aloft in his right hand and a flame disk in his life, sending rays in every direction. He is the God of Light and of life. His colour is Gold. His Essence is to be found in gold, and in all golden objects and plants. He is sometimes called UDUU. His Gate is the Fourth you will pass in the rituals that follow. His Step on the great Ladder of Lights is Gold.”

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” Gen 1:14-19

“At the Fourth Gate

NINGHIZHIDDA removed the Jewels
The Jewels on her breast he took away
And ISHTAR asked
Why, Guardian of the Outer, has thou removed my Fourth Jewel?
And the Guardian answered
Thus it is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time,
The Rules of the Lady of KUTU.
Enter the Fourth Gate.”
(excerpt from the Magan Text)

Now let us look at the Fifth Day of Creation:

“The God of Mars is the mighty NERGAL.

He has the head of a man on the body of a lion, and bears a sword and a flail. He is the God of War, and of the fortunes of War. He was sometimes though to be an agent of the Ancient Ones, for he dwelt in CUTHA for a time. His colour is dark red. His essence is to be found in Iron, and in all weapons made to spill the blood of men and of animals. His Gate is the Fifth you will see as you pass the Zones in the rituals that follow. “

“And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.” Gen 1:20-23

“At the Fifth Gate

NINNGHIZHIDDA removed the Jewels
The Belt of Jewels around her hips he took away
And ISHTAR asked
Why, Watcher of the Forbidden Entrance, hast thou removed my Fifth Jewel?
And the Watcher answered
Thus it is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time,
The Rules of the Lady of KUTUK.
Enter the Fifth Gate.”

The Sixth Day of Creation:

“The God of Jupiter is the Lord of Magicians, MARDUK KURIOS of the Double-headed Axe. MARDUK was born of our Father, ENKI, to do battle against the forces of the Ancient Ones, and he won a powerful fight, subduing the armies of Evil and putting the Queen of the Ancient Ones beneath his foot. That Serpent is dead, but dreams. MARDUK was bestowed Fifty Names and Powers by the Council of the Elder Gods, which Powers he retains to this day. His colour is Purple. His Essence is in the material tin, and in brass. His Gate is the Sixth that you will come upon as you follow the rituals that follow. His Step on the Ladder of Lights in Purple.”

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Gen 1:24-31

“At the Sixth Gate
NINNGHIZHIDDA removed the Jewels
The Jewels around her wrists
And the Jewels around her ankles he took away.
And ISHTAR asked
Why, NINNKIGAL, hast thou removed my Sixth Jewel?
And NINKIGAL answered
Thus it is, the ancient Covenant, set down before Time,
The Decrees of Lady of KUTU.
Enter the Sixth Gate.”

Now let us make a comparison with the Seventh Day of Creation:

“The God of Saturn is NINIB called ADAR, the Lord of Hunters and of Strength. He appears with a crown of horns and a long sword, wearing a lion’s skin. he is the final Zonei before the terrible IGIGI. His colour is the darkest black. His Essence is to be found in lead, in the burnt embers of the fire, and in things of death and of antiquity. The horns of a stag are his symbol. His Gate is the Last you will come upon in the rites that follow. His Step on the Ladder of Lights is Black.”

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.Gen 2:1-3

“At the Seventh Gate

NINNGHIZHIDDA removed the Jewels
The Jewelled Robes of ISHTAR he took away.
ISHTAR, without protection, without safety,
ISHTAR, without talisman or amulet, asked
Why, Messenger of the Ancient Ones, hast thou removed my Seventh Jewel?
And the Messenger of the Ancient Ones replied
Thus it is, the Covenant of Old, set down before Time,
The Rules of the Lady of KUTU.
Enter the Seventh Gate and behold the Nether World.

ISHTAR had descended to the Land of KUR
To the Depths of CUTHA she went down.
Having lost her Seven Talisman of the Upper Worlds
Having lost her Seven Powers of the Land of the Living
Without Food of Life or Water of Life
She appeared before ERESHKIGAL, Mistress of Death.
ERESHKIGAL screamed at Her presence.

ISHTAR raised up Her arm.
ERESHKIGAL summoned NAMMTAR
The Magician NAMMTAR
Saying these words she spoke to him
Go! Imprison her!
Bind her in Darkness!
Chain her in the Sea below the Seas!
Release against her the Seven ANNUNNAKI!
Release against her the Sixty Demons!
Against her eyes, the demons of the eyes!
Against her sides, the demons of the sides!
Against her heart, the demons of the heart!
Against her feet, the demons of the feet!
Against her head, the demons of the head!
Against her entire body, the demons the KUR!

And the demons tore at her, from every side.

And the ANNUNAKI, Dread Judges
Seven Lords of the Underworld
Drew Around Her
Faceless Gods of ABSU
They stared
Fixed her with the Eye of Death
Withe the Glance of Death
They killed her
And hung her like a corpse from a stake
The sixty demons tearing her limbs from her sides
Her eyes from her head
Her ears from her skull.

ERESHKIGAL rejoiced.
Blind AZAG-THOTH rejoiced
IAK SAKKAK rejoiced
ISHNIGGARRAB rejoiced
KUTULU rejoiced
The MASKIM gave praise to the Queen of Death
The GIGIM gave praise to ERESHKIGAL, Queen of Death.

And the Elder Ones were rent with fear.”

Anyone who is familiar with Cabbalistic Correspondences could easily see the similarities between the Seven Days of Creation, as found in Genesis, and the Qliphotic Tree that Simon uses in the Simon Necronomicon. We know for certain that each “creative day” is of Sumerian and Babylonian sources due to what is found at the end of the verses describing the creative days:

“And the evening and the morning were the first day.”

The term “an evening and the morning” appear after each creative day of man except the Seventh Day. Now theologians assert that these creative days were periods in time not literal 24v hour days, which can be compared with science. Notice the following link:

http://www.hpcisp.com/~kls/page2.html

Therefore, the term evening and morning must be symbolic of INANNA/ISHTAR who is known as the morning and evening star. However, in the verses found in Genesis the term “evening” comes before “morning” which indicates ISHTAR is a warlike mode, or that of a descent. Since INANNA was crucified on the Seventh Day, the terms “there was an evening and morning” do not appear in the seventh day’s description, and we must remember that man is still living in the Seventh Day. Yet we can see here that this “Descent” describes the appearance of the Watchers or the Heavenly Class of ISHTAR. Notice what is stated towards the conclusion of the first chapter of Genesis:

“And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

If we notice in the above passage taken from Genesis Chapter One, there is know mention of man being made from the soil, as it states in the Second Chapter of Genesis. Additionaly, in Genesis Chapter One, man is given every tree bearing fruit, which is different from the Second Chapter of Genesis where man is told not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Bad. Plus, we also see in the first Chapter that multiple men and women were made, and they were given dominion over the fish of the sea ( the Underworld),  and the fowl of the air (the Abyss), and everything that moveth upon the Earth (Ganzir). We can also see from the above passage that this man was told to “replenish the earth.” This means that the Class of ISHTAR/TIAMAT were the original founders of the Earth, and since they knew earth’s cycle, they would escape when life became unbearable on the planet and return to replenish it at a later date because of the elements that earth produces. We also see, from the Qliphothic deities that were mentioned above, which are found in the Simon Necronomicon, that their entrance into our world was based on Walking the Qliphothic Tree. Once they arrived here, they assumed human bodies and began working on restoring the Earth. We know this to be true since we are told that “God” planted a garden in Eden. It seems evident that this “God” was the Watcher-Class replenishing the Earth, but decided to rest from their work and made humans to work for them. Thus, we see two classes of beings upon the earthly plane, the Watchers and human beings.  It seems that this Stellar Race had debates about the future of man and man’s evolution. This is supported by the Sumerian Myths of Adapa and the South Winds. Yet we see in the second chapter of Genesis that there was another being, man, who was created from the ground and placed in the Garden of Eden. We are also told in this account that a woman was made for him and a by-product of his rib. The second chapter of Genesis  ends with verse 25, which states the following:

“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Interestingly, we find Inanna in the same condition of nakedness, after she is stripped of all her garments and mes. Notice how the original account concerning her descent is worded:

164-172. After she had crouched down and had her clothes removed, they were carried away. Then she made her sister Ereškigala rise from her throne, and instead she sat on her throne. The Anuna, the seven judges, rendered their decision against her. They looked at her — it was the look of death. They spoke to her — it was the speech of anger. They shouted at her — it was the shout of heavy guilt. The afflicted woman was turned into a corpse. And the corpse was hung on a hook”

This would seem to signify that the Watcher-Class, or ISHTAR, was in a position that was relative to the first human beings. They were able then, to communicate with them. Keeping this in mind, let us now examine the third chapter of Genesis, we will be using the New American translation of the Bible:

Chapter 3

1

Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the animals that the LORD God had made. The serpent asked the woman, “Did God really tell you not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?”

2

The woman answered the serpent: “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden;

3

it is only about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, ‘You shall not eat it or even touch it, lest you die.’”

4

But the serpent said to the woman: “You certainly will not die! “

The Watcher-Class is described in the above passage as a “serpent.” In the book Flying Serpents and Dragons: The Story of Mankind’s Reptilian Past by R. A. Boulay, we find the following observation made on page 65:

“The Sumerians and Akkadians did not call their alien visitors “gods.”…They were called “lofty ones,” in the sense of those who occupied heaven.”

Prior to this Boulay makes another observation of page 62:

The Sumerians had several names for their gods. They all have the basic meaning of a flaming flying serpent”

In the book Dragon Legacy by Nicholas de Vere, Tracy R. Twyman, we find the following observation made on page 204:

“It seems fairly conclusive that these serpent gods were later referred to by the Sumerian people themselves as the Anunnagi from whence is derived naga, or a serpent or Dragon God of the Vedas.”

Thus, the “serpent” that appears in the second chapter of Genesis must have been one of the Anunnaki. This would then explain why Eve was not startled that a serpent was talking to her, as this “serpent” was from the same race of being who were involved in the creation of human beings. Now that we have a clear understanding of this, let us move on in our reading of chapter three of Genesis:

5

1 No, God knows well that the moment you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods who know what is good and what is bad.”

6

The woman saw that the tree was good for food, pleasing to the eyes, and desirable for gaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

7

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized that they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.

The above passage reveals to us that the “serpent” actually trying help man evolve when viewed in the proper context.. We see how early man was able to make clothes for themselves and learned how to judge for themselves what was right and what was wrong.. This is the beginning of civilization amongst humanity. Evidently this “serpent” was the same class of Watchers who are described as descending down and taking human bodies to copulate with earthly women. Christians like to believe that Satan told the first lie, but we can see from this Biblical passage that he actually told the truth. The eyes of humanity were opened and they lived on for hundreds of years. There is no lie in what the “serpent” said. It seems that this “serpent” would be none other than those Watchersi who opposed Enlil idea of a human slave race. This can be seen by reviewing the passages that follow

8

2 When they heard the sound of the LORD God moving about in the garden at the breezy time of the day, the man and his wife hid themselves from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9

The LORD God then called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”

10

He answered, “I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself.”

11

Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked? You have eaten, then, from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!”

12

The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with me–she gave me fruit from the tree, so I ate it.”

13

The LORD God then asked the woman, “Why did you do such a thing?” The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.”

14

Then the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you shall be banned from all the animals and from all the wild creatures; On your belly shall you crawl, and dirt shall you eat all the days of your life.

15

3 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.”

16

To the woman he said: “I will intensify the pangs of your childbearing; in pain shall you bring forth children. Yet your urge shall be for your husband, and he shall be your master.”

17

To the man he said: “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat, “Cursed be the ground because of you! In toil shall you eat its yield all the days of your life.

18

Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to you, as you eat of the plants of the field.

19

By the sweat of your face shall you get bread to eat, Until you return to the ground, from which you were taken; For you are dirt, and to dirt you shall return.”

20

4 The man called his wife Eve, because she became the mother of all the living.

21

For the man and his wife the LORD God made leather garments, with which he clothed them.

22

Then the LORD God said: “See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.”

23

The LORD God therefore banished him from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he had been taken.

24

5 When he expelled the man, he settled him east of the garden of Eden; and he stationed the cherubim and the fiery revolving sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

It is interesting to note that the “Lord” discovered the human pair while walking through the Garden during the “breezy part” of the day. It would be appropriate to understand that this “God: is Enlil, Lord of the Air. Enlil was opposed human evolution. Yet we find the above passages interesting since they explore what happened to the Watcher-Class. We see that the “serpent” or Watcher Class was said to be struck on the head by humanity. This means that the governing forces are trying to keep the Watcher-Class unaware of their true heritage and built a system of religion, or religions, to keep the ISHTAR Class from remembering themselves. The mad Arab comments on this in his First Testimony:

“Let all who read this book be warned thereby that the habitation of men are seen and surveyed by that Ancient Race of gods and demons from a time before time, and that they seek revenge for that forgotten battle that took place somewhere in the Cosmos and rent the Worlds in the days before the creation of Man, when the Elder Gods walked the Spaces,”

Amazingly, modern religion will have you thinking in reverse, while unable to assess that the Biblical God is opposed to human evolution, and desires that only his needs be fulfilled. When the human being listened to the “serpent” the Bible didn’t mentioned anything about them committing any sinful behavior. They just sowed clothes for themselves and was working in the Garden. Human beings became corrupt due to the theocratic abuse that early humans experienced through their interactions with the Biblical God. The above verses, as found in Genesis, clearly state that it was this “Biblical God” who made women submissive to man and create an enmity between the seed of the “serpent” and that of humans. It is also found in the same verses of Genesis that it was this “Biblical God” and not the “serpent,” who removed any possibility of man obtaining immortality by removing the Tree of Life from the Garden of Eden and placing two cherub angels with a flaming sword to guard it. Yet this is the same God that is worshipped by millions across the globe, while those who are practicing occultists must keep their tradition in secret. This is the enmity that was put between man and the “serpent.” The “serpent” is the Watcher-Class. Yet the passage in Genesis tells us that enmity was put between the “serpent” and man, and this was done by placing the veil of religion upon the Watcher-Class, and he lost memory of himself. We can see further how the Watcher-Class was persecuted by humans, as the advent of the Abrahamic Religions began to rise so did the persecution of those practicing the Craft. Interestingly, the word wicked and wickedness, as it is found in the Bible, actually has an etymological origin with the word witch or wizard, and all throughout the Hebrew Scriptures “wickedness” is condemned. Not only were these acts condemned but those found practicing them were often put to death. Yet despite all the evil deeds that have been done in the name of these Abrahamic religions, witchcraft is still seen as evil. However, there is one very important point that ties our discussion together and that is the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life was actually the portal through which one ascends to the point of origin that the Watcher-Class, or ISHTAR, came through. The Tree of Life is the Qliphothic Tree. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad in its diluted form is the Tree that most Cabbalists refer to as the Tree of Life, but is not the Tree of Life, and since they remain stuck with identity of the Tree as being Abrahamic in origin, immortality evades them. We learn that the Qliphothic tree is the Tree of Life as mentioned in the Bible, when we look into the Myth of Adapa and the Food of Life:

“The road to Heaven he made him take, and to Heaven he ascended.
When he came to Heaven, when he approached the door of Anu,
At the door of Ann, Tammuz and Gisbzida are standing.
When they saw him, Adapa, they cried: ” Help,
Sir, for whom dost thou so appear? Adapa”

(The above was translated by R. W. Rogers in 1913) We can see how the genesis account was modled after earlier Sumerian Mythologies. Here we see that the two cherubim that were guarding the Tree of Life, as found in Genesis, correspond to Tammuz and Gishzida, who guard the Throne of Anu, in the Myth concerning Adapa. Here we see Adapa had a chance at immortality but refused it. This signifies that the Qliphothic Tree is the Tree of Life. First one enters the Qliphotic Tree in its aspect of being the Tree of Knowledge of God and Bad. When one is able to reach the furthest part, they are in the Gate of Anu, like Adapa. It is from here that we are move on, if allowed, into the womb of the Mother Tiamat, whose name means “maiden of life.”

This sis why Simon  used the term Ningizzida instead of neti in some of the [assages in the MAGAN Text concerning the Sleep of ISHTAR, as Ningizzida means “lord of the good tree.” We can also see that if we are ISHTAR existing in the Underworld today, by Calling on Enki via the Watcher, our mentality can be lifted up and the bruise we received to the head, will be healed. We can learn this attribute by observing on of the great Gatewalkers of all time Jesus Christ.

Part Two: Jesus Christ Sorcereer of the Qliphotic Tree.

The life of Jesus Christ, as described in the New Testament refers heavily to the Ancient Chaldean practices of working with the Qliphoth. While many GateWalkers of the Qliphothic Tree respect the teachings of Jesus, we value more that he does not appear in our Tradition nor is he a deity in the Necronomicon Pantheon. However, the GateWalker recognizes Jesus in his prehistoric form, which is Enki.

Although, there are many Christians and Jews who would like to belive that Jesus was practicing the Jewish faith, this is far from the truth. Ezekiel 8:14 lets us know that there were other belief systems that existed amongst Jewish peoples in ancient times:

“Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.”

We also find another account of Jewish peoples turning to other gods to worship in the infamous legend of the Golden Calf that was built when Moses asscended Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments. Yet I must warn the reader to look at these occurances objectively. Bible writers would like for us to believe that the ancient Jewish peoples kept turning to false gods inspite of all the miracles that Yahweh demonstrated. However, it would seem more reasonable to approach the writings of the Old Testament from the perspective that the Cult of Moses was trying to wipe out any traces of the Sumerian/Babylonian belief that existed amongst the Anceint Jews, and these same Bible writers wrote as if other cults didn’t exist so that no record of them existing amongst the Jews of ancient times could be found. We will discover evidence of this as we approach the life of Jesus Christ. We will discuss this in our next article

Summoning Part 1: 1001 Spirits of Use

What is the Above is from the Below and the Below is from the Above. The Work of Wonders is from One.

These words, in one translation or another, are among the best known of the Emerald Tablet of Hermes the Thrice Great, and form the established basis of Hermetic philosophy, mysticism, and magic. They also explain the basis of the arts of spirit evocation and invocation, which is commonly considered in the occult community to be both an advanced Art and the gateway to the greater powers of magic and the supernatural. Most of this blog thusfar has focused on Theurgic Ascension, which is outlined in the Necronomicon through the process of the Gatewalking. This post presents information about Thaumaturgy (wonder-working) and the rites of summoning that are outlined in the Book of Calling and which can be utilized for any type of spirit grammer (including the Urilia Text).

Given the wonderful things that Gatewalking unlocks, its pertinent to ask – Is it really important for a Gatewalker to also be a Summoner? In my opinion, the answer is a definite and loud yes! Summoning and the related arts and processes it entails are essential things to master in our tradition because they provide oppertunities to apply the powers and wisdom learned as one traverses the gates of the Holy Tree of Life and Death. Summoning and the arts taught by spirits provide direct applications that make a real and concrete impact on the lives of a gatewalker and those close to him.

What is necessary to be a good summoner? The first and foremost power that a summoner draws upon is Authority, in the deepest and most spiritual sense of the word. This is something that must be contemplated and often claimed within the life of a gatewalker if he or she is to exercise it fully. Authority is symbolized primarily by two things in the rituals of summoning – the Circle, which defines a summoner as the Center and Point of an operation, and the Commanding Wand, which is both an item, a word, and a stance of attitude that demands respect from the spiritual world. Almost all of the other supplies that compose a ritual depend upon these central forces for their effectiveness. The Authority of the Circle and the Will of the Wand are the bare bones of a summoning. The Circle is a lofty subject for meditation, but in brief it demonstrates and manifests the power of Divine Unity (whether understood as God or the Council of the Gods) in relationship to an outside Universe. The relationship may be further defined and circumscribed by a Triangle, which embodies and outlines Manifestation within Limitation. The Wand, symbolic of Primal Fire and Eternal Will, is the Gift of Anu and the extension of his Crown of Heaven. Held and exercised confidently and powerfully, its possibilites are limitless. The basis of authority and will may differ from person to person, but should always be excersied with both confidence and authenticity. Authority can be borrowed from other figures, such as the Gods, if confidence is lacking, but should become more and more personal with time and practice and growth.

What does a summoning entail? Its helpful to think about the analogous process through which human citizens are summoned to a courtroom, whether it is for jury duty or to testify during a deposition. The authority comes from the power that is vested in the governing body. The need comes from the particular expertise, skills, judgment, or experience of a particular individual, especially in relation to the “trials” which are currently being dealt with. The response may vary from enthusiastic and patriotic duty to active hostility with a contempt for the court itself. It is my opinion after years of study that one of the biggest mistakes a summoner can make is to treat all spirits in the same fashion and manner, because spirits vary tremendously based on demographics and history. One does not take the same attitude towards a polytheistic god as they would towards an angel, or behave towards a demon as they would towards an elemental. Although spirits change roles over time, it is very important to understand the context and situation in which you call them, in order to communicate in the most efficient way.

What kind of spirits can be called? “In all, 1001 spirits may be of use to you, and these you will discover in the course of your journey” (I paraphrase the Nec here). The Book of Calling reiterates the axiom I have mentioned before that the Necronomicon, however you understand it, is not meant to be read in isolation. Just as a Gatewalker must study up on the Gods and their history in relationship to humanity, a summoner must study up on both theory and techniques related to their practice of Calling. The registers of spirits are known as Grammers (Grimoires in French) because they present the bare bones of what often amounts to entire curriculems worth of studies. They are written more like notes from a college lecture than textbooks and are meant as jumping off points rather than authoritative final words. Each grammer is designed to work with a particular class of spirits chosen for specific reasons (or at least, a selection from amongst many classes that satisfies a particular need). The spirits that are listed in grammers have been chosen both for their historical efficacy as well as their practical applications; the grammers are far from being exhaustive lists, and even the spirits mentioned are only briefly outlined. The real learning comes during the calling and not from the study beforehand.

For this introductory article, I will outline a number of different classes of spirits that summoners may find useful in the course of their growth. Keep in mind that several of these spirits may become long term friends and quite familiar if given the chance.

*Planetary spirits – I mention these spirits first because in the Nec system, they start to become very accesable right away as soon as one walks their gate. Planetary spirits have very broad powers that manifest with the astrological cycles of their respective bodies, which can take anywhere from hours to years depending on who you work with. They are extremely powerful when enhanced through particularly beneficial astrological timing – for example, the Nec relates that when the Moon and Venus are conjunct (Nanna and Ishtar), it is “as if an offering cup were spilt freely, and there is much rejoicing”. Planetary beings are an excellent place to start for beginning summoners because their results are strong while their timing is moderate. They neither overwhelm in the way goetic entities often do, nor do they confine themselves to lofty and aloof support in the way many angels are said to respond. Planetaries are divided up in numerous ways often related to the numerology and cycles of their planet, such as the 28 mansions of the Moon or the 15 handmaidens of Ishtar. Again, consult your natal chart to discover entities that are particular suited to work with you.

*Stellar spirits – Star spirits embody vast cycles and lengths of time and space, and can share with you glimpses of worlds from “a long time ago in a galaxy far away”. The knowledge they impart is very timeless and they sometimes lack patience with passing trends. This may be where the descriptor of the Igigi/Watchers as “cruel” originates. Science and alchemy are very important to many of these spirits, which include both the spirits of the ecliptic signs as well as of specific stars and star groupings, such as the “Olympic” spirits of the Mount of Heaven.

*Goetic spirits (classic demons) – Every time you call a goetic spirit you call upon a part of yourself that has been discounted and rejected. These spirits have an amazing and natural energy and power that hits very close to home and are easy to call because of their proximity, but are known to test those who summon them. I do not subscribe to the belief of some authors that all goetic work is bad or dangerous, or that you must use a ridiculous number of precautions when dealing with them. What I will say is that dealing with goetics is always concrete and forces you to confront your fears and limitations head on. This is among the hardest but also the most profitable of realtionships. The goetics challenge their summoners but once respect is won, they will lovingly serve their masters for lifetimes and possibly beyond.

*Angels – I define angels primarily as beings whose identity is wrapped around and caught up in a singular, unifying concept, such as “God”. An angels’ will is difficult to seperate from what they serve because the will has been given over in love and trust. Angels are said to often delegate practical work to more earthly spirits, but can always uplift one from the dregs of sorrow due to their amazing ability to inspire, enlighten, uplift, and provide perspective. Angels are the ones to go to when you seek to know and perform something with grace and purity. They are literally the “messengers” of a Greater Power.

*Elementals – The elementals are very connected to the visceral experiences of animal and human life, traditionally grouped into the 4 or 5 elements. Their healing abilities are very strong and they almost alwasy strengthen the connection of their summoners to life and the processes by which it occurs. Knowing which elementals to call is often just a matter of examining one’s state and situation in life – for example, a preponderance towards moodiness and melancholic feelings is the perfect situation for the help of a water spirit (undine). Elementals tend to be neutral in relationship to divine politics but there is a lot of diversity amongst their kind and they are not strictly limited to one definition or another. The Theurgia-Goetia outlines many different kind of spirits which could all fall under the headers of “aerial” but which nonetheless have very different attitudes and portfolios, even though “their office is all the same”.

*Deads – Necromancy is still a fairly taboo subject even among occultists, but the Nec provides support and basic tools for calling departed humans. One thing I have found is that in the modern world, most people (at least from my culture) are not dwelling in the traditional gloomy realms of Sheol and Ereshkigal, but brighter abodes with more inspiraiton and perspective. The “other side” for humans is based on their spiritual growth, and for most of the race lies no longer under the earth, but between it and the Moon (remember that the lunar landing, as Simon said, was a collective initiation). Among the deads, you can work with ancestors, as our author recommends, as well as friendlies and hostiles both from local graveyards and afar. I don’t have a  lot of experience in this areas but from what I’ve been told, work with the dead is very much a matter of calling, and people will tend to either be atrracted or repelled from it based on their nature and whether their culture is “dead friendly” or “dead avoiding”.

*Ascended Masters – Christopher Penczak has outlined in his great book on Ascension magic how one can deal with all the channeled masters of the “New Age” through traditional magical paradigms. I have never contacted these beings directly but some people profit greatly from it; it seems to be very useful for those who are seeking teachers or gurus and feel isolated and cut off from the rest of the world. These beings help restore the balance but oftentimes carry specific agendas and politics which must be noticed.

*Folk Spirits – Under this classification falls races of beings which are not adequately understood with an elemental paradigm but nonetheless have had a strong impact on Earth’s history. This would include fairies, elves, goblins, sasquatch, and many other local spirits tied to particular cultures and places. These spirits are fickle sometimes and are often known to be mischievious and tricky. Whether they take a liking to you or not makes all the difference in working with them.

*Artificial Spirits – These spirits are a unique class in that they are created by human magicians and priests. People like to tell horror stories about egregores and golems gone insane, but I think this class is important in that it gives people a chance to learn the arts of creation and personality that help one to grow closer to the Divine. Oftentimes the process is not so much a creation as a definite role which is assumed by a little known but already existent entity. Donald Tyson’s works are very helpful on this subject. Metafictions such as Promethea and the Pop Culture characters that Taylor Ellwood teaches about are other important members of this group.

*Polytheistic gods – They’re much more approachable than most people give them credit for. Gods define themselves primarily in terms of Mysteres – the way they convey the universe and its lessons through particular themes, archetypes, and stories that are unique to their indiivdual history and experience. For example, Ishtar’s mysteries are taught through sexuality and rebirth because they are elements in her personal history and story within the greater scheme of things. Respect the Mystere (in the voodon sense), and you will learn how to relate to the god.

*Ancients/Abominations/Lloigor – What Warlock has said about the Urilia text is absolutelly true – do NOT use it until you are ready for it! These beings are millions of years old and represent the earliest and most ancient biocircuitry in humankind, which is very primal and animalistic. Extremely powerful if you can deal with them properly, but terrifying and dangerous if you aren’t ready to handle it. Take this from a guy who summoned Pazuzu and was going to be issued a premature death sentence were it not for the intervention of the gods and some good friends.

*Compass Spirits – There are a lot of different beings it would seem that dwell just on the outskirts of Earth and are connected to the mysteries of various angles, degrees, influences, and times that distribute power throughout the world. This is a little understood area in modern magick but has a ton of potential goodies for those willing to investigate. Franz Bardon’s elaborate registers for the 360 spirits from Abramelin are included here, as well as the spirits of the four altars (altitudes) found in the Ars Almadel, the hourly and zodiacal spirits of the Pauline Art, and the banner spirits of both the Tetrgrammaton and the 72-fold Shem HaMephorash. These are the spirits of “Theurgy” in the classical sense, and their books are found in the “Lesser Key” (Lemegeton) even though they were medievally classed as “good spirits’ (usually). What I have noticed with these spirits thusfar is that they can attune you to natural cycles in such a way that what you desire to accomplish, know, or obtain comes about in a very natural, spontaneous, and timely fashion. I  believe that these entities are those most commonly called “daemons” in the old Hermetic texts, and that these beings were worked with extensively by the syncretistic magicians of Hellenistic and later Roman Egypt. This would explain their transmission via Abramelin and the Valley of the Kings, which has always been a hotbed for these spirits.

KEYS TO THE ANCIENT ONES PART 13: PAZUZU IS CHORONZON?

Greetings!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone here at the GateWalker’s Page. If this is your first time here, we asked that you begin your journey by reading some of our previous articles to aid you in understanding how we arrived at our current discussion.

In the Simon Necronomicon’s CHART OF COMPARISONS, we find Choronzon being equated with Pazuzu. I am sure that this has raised much speculation across the Occult Community by critics and practitioners alike. In view of such, it may be good for us to review the meaning of all of this as we move on in our understanding of the most Sacred Tradition.

Before we delve further into this discussion, I would like to remind that those of us who are Initiated into the Simon Necronomicon Tradition, it is a must that we research the information in the grimoire, as well as, what we are told by the energies in the tome through epiphany. Let us now move on into our discussion by first defining what Choronzon is.

I found a very interesting online article about Choronzon which gives us a very good definition about the said subject being discussed. Thelemapedia: The Encyclopedia of Thelema and Magick, which can be accessed here

http://www.thelemapedia.org/index.php/Choronzon made the following observations:

“Choronzon first appeared in the Enochian writings of John Dee in the 16th century, where he was synonymous with the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Aleister Crowley paraphrased Dee’s description of Choronzon as “the first and deadliest of all the powers of evil…rightly so, for although he is not a person, he is the metaphysical contrary of the whole Process of Magick” (1998). In the system of Thelema, Choronzon is the Dweller in the Abyss, that great spiritual wilderness which must be crossed by the adept to attain mastery. Choronzon is there as the final obstruction. If he is met with the proper preparation, then he is there to destroy the ego, which allows the adept to move beyond the Abyss. If unprepared, then the unfortunate traveller will be utterly dispersed into annihilation.

In The Vision and the Voice, Crowley describes Choronzon:

The name of the Dweller in the Abyss is Choronzon, but he is not really an individual. The Abyss is empty of being; it is filled with all possible forms, each equally inane, each therefore evil in the only true sense of the word—that is, meaningless but malignant, in so far as it craves to become real. These forms swirl senselessly into haphazard heaps like dust devils, and each such chance aggregation asserts itself to be an individual and shrieks, “I am I!” though aware all the time that its elements have no true bond; so that the slightest disturbance dissipates the delusion just as a horseman, meeting a dust devil, brings it in showers of sand to the earth.

Crowley also speaks of him in Magick Without Tears:

And whoso passeth into the outermost Abyss—except he be of them that understand—holdeth out his hands, and boweth his neck, unto the Chains of Choronzon. And as a devil he walketh about the earth, immortal, and he blasteth the flowers of the earth, and he corrupteth the fresh air, and he maketh poisonous the water; and the fire that is the friend of man, and the pledge of his aspiration, seeing that it mounteth ever upward as a Pyramid, and seeing that man stole it in a hollow tube from Heaven—even that fire he turneth into ruin, and madness, and fever, and destruction. And thou, that art an heap of dry dust in the city of the Pyramids, must understand these things.

In a more general sense, Choronzon represents dispersion, impotence, malace, corruption, restriction, and death. A more detailed account of Choronzon can be found in the Tenth Aethyr (called ZAX) in The Vision & the Voice. “

In the above passage, Crowley describes Choronzon as the ‘Dweller of the Abyss.’ Crowley’s perception of Choronzon, as expressed in Magick Without Tears, is that he is “as a devil he walketh about the earth, immortal, and he blasteth the flowers of the earth, and he corrupteth the fresh air, and he maketh poisonous the water; and the fire that is the friend of man, and the pledge of his aspiration, seeing that it mounteth ever upward as a Pyramid, and seeing that man stole it in a hollow tube from Heaven—even that fire he turneth into ruin, and madness, and fever, and destruction.”

This relates to a passage that we find in the Simon Necronomicon’s Book of Calling:

Know, fourthly, that it is become the obligation of the Priests of the Flame and the Sword, and of all Magick, to bring their Power to the Underworld and keep it chained thereby, for the Underworld is surely the Gate Forgotten, by which the Ancient Ones ever seek Entrance to the Land of the Living, And the Ministers of ABSU are clearly walking the Earth, riding on the Air, and upon the Earth, and sailing silently through the Water, and roaring in the Fire, and all these Spirits must be brought to subjection to the Person of the Priest of Magick, before any else. Or the Priest becomes prey to the Eye of Death of the Seven ANNUNNAKI, Lord of the Underworld, Ministers of the Queen of Hell.”

When we compare the two passages we can definitely conclude that Choronzon would be considered an Ancient One. Crowley describes Choronzon as the “Dweller in the Abyss.’ I think many of our readers will enjoy this definition of Choronzon, found at the following link: http://www.crossroads.wild.net.au/333.htm

“Choronzon is the dweller on the threshold, the Guardian of the Abyss. He is the ultimate initiator, and so to turn back when he looms unexpectedly in one’s life, is to deny oneself possibilities of evolution. For it is not just the Abyss which Choronzon guards, but also the supernal triad beyond it, those ineffable flowers of samadhi which may only be reached by crossing the Abyss. Whether this crossing is a torturous ordeal or a blissful release is basically up to the individual’s perspective, to how they deal with the process of initiation”.

The above quote gives us a deeper perspective of the Rites of GateWalking. Choronzon is the Dweller of the Abyss. He is the Great Initiator, and must be passed if one is to move on to enlightenment. The Abyss, in the Simon Necronomicon Tradition, is opened when GateWalker performs the Calling, which includes the workings of the URILLA Text. It is here that Chorozon is invoked and the GateWalker can travel into the deeper mysteries of the Astral Kingdom. Yet what is interesting and unique about the GateWalking System is that Choronzon is called upon within each Gate Initiation.

A part of the GateWalking Initiation includes within its Rites is the Conjuration of the Watcher. In the NORMAL INVOCATION OF THE WATCHER, we find the following words:

“Cease to lie unwaking beneath the Mountains of KUR.
Rise up, from the pits of ancient holocausts!
Rise up, from the old Abyss of NARR MARRATU!”

This passage clearly shows us that the Watcher is from the Abyss. In some of our previous discussions we were able to identify the Watcher with KUTULU, which can be seen here at this link:

http://warlockasylum.wordpress.com/the-bandar-sign-part-1-kutulu/

We come to appreciation in our process of Initiation that the elements of the Abyss are indeed in our psyche. The elements of the Abyss are included in our work to burn away the “false ego” which claims many occultists. The challenges that Choronzon brings up are not external issues, but those affecting the psyche. Peter J. Carroll and many chaos magicians consider Choronzon to be an embodyment of all the psychic crap that is floating around the aether. Magicians who have more amicable experiences with Choronzon have reported him to be helpful and friendly, although posessing a rather bizarre sense of humour.. Choronzon, is said to be the conquest of the ego, which prevents a magician from reaching enlightenment. Of course, there are always those of us who would rather work with the ego than against it. These are referred to by Thelemites as the ‘Black Brothers’, as are those who worship Choronzon as the guardian of the portal between worlds. Probably the most popular working involving Choronzon is Peter J. Carroll’s ‘Mass of Choronzon’. This calls upon it to grant a random desire of the magician’s subconscious.  Choronzon is the key to the other realms and whatever experiences that one has with this entity depends on the psyche of each individual. Yet there is another thing that must be taken into consideration-Why is Choronzon comparable to PAZUZU? For that answer we must look at another figure-The Baphomet.

Frater Samuel 23 (Brian Shaughnessy ) makes a very interesting observation concerning the Baphomet, which can be seen here:

http://chaoscurrent.com/experience/baphomet.html

“I see Baphomet as comparable to Choronzon or the angelic office of Satan, in certain of his functions. Baphomet has opposed me, at times forcing me to reconcile with the “bad” things I have done (particularly in the past) and also forcing me to confront the positive things I have done. Baphomet represents to me the amalgamation of all of our disparate actions and motivations, perhaps only approachable from a dualistic mindset. Baphomet is the personification of unification.”

Frater Samuel’s observation is a profound one indeed fro it reveals Chorozon’s true purpose. Chorozon forces us to deal with our prior “sins” or Earthly debts before we can move on into the higher realms of consciousness, we must address issues that prevent the process of enlightenment from taking place. This is where the pride of a magician can become the very thing that destroys them. What is also interesting here is the comparison between Baphomet and Choronzon. If Choronzon can be compared to Baphomet, then we can also understand that the relationship between Choronzon and PAZUZU, as mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon, would then find its link with Shugal. We mention this here in our discussion because of Frater Samuel’s statement concerning the Baphomet. The Baphomet is actually an androgynous figure.  This is also relative to Choronzon. Crowley tells us the guardian of this realm (Daath) is Choronzon Shugal having the kabbalistic value of 666 – this guardian is both a male Shugal 333 and a Female Choronzon 333. This guardian’s role is to destroy the ego, for one cannot enter the supernal while clinging to the attachments of the ego. Interestingly, in the article The Demon of the South-West Wind by Stephen Sennitt, Sennitt makes the following observations, http://philhine.org.uk/writings/sp_pazuzu.html :.

“In his erudite book, The Domain of Devils, Eric Marple describes the wind demon as the most terrible of all demonic entities, having the power to spread loathsome diseases with his dry fiery breath. The demon has “for a head the almost fleshless skull of a dog”1 representing death, disease, and as the fleshless death’s head of the desert scavenger, starvation. Significantly, William Woods states in his History of the Devil: “… in Mesopotamia the horned demon, Pazuzu, rode on the wind and carried malaria…”2 thus emphasising the demon’s destructive role as “lord of fevers and plagues.” Perhaps relating Pazuzu to the devouring dragon, Typhon, “angel of the fatal winds”, equated with the disease Typhoid.

Another representation of the wind demon can be traced in the Old Testament, where the devil is described as a hairy black creature; a haunter of the desert wastelands.3

The idea of the wind devil as a desert creature may derive from the Egyptian concept of Set, the destroyer, most ancient of the gods, who was represented as a strange, dog-like animal, not unlike that scavenging denizen of the desert, the jackal. Kenneth Grant has called this manifestation of Set, Shugal “the desert fox symbolic of Set, the male half of the Beast 666.”4 the number of Shugal being 333. The “female” half of the Beast is Choronzon (333), another pestilential being – representing Chaos in all its latent or manifested aspects. Choronzon is said to have driven Aleister Crowley insane by his invocation of the entity in the North African desert.5 Representing the malaise of chaos and destruction Choronzon is probably one of the most complex symbols in western occultism.

Interestingly, in relating Pazuzu to the concept of the Beast, we find his number is 107. Kenneth Grant states that this number is the number of the angel of Leo, OVAL, the messenger of the Beast.6 Oval literally means “egg”, and therefore refers to the aeon of the “daughter”, or the aeon of Set, which is still in embryonic form. In many of the world’s ancient theologies, this final aeon is the era of destruction, when the messenger of the Beast, Pazuzu, delivers his word..,”

We can see in the above quote that the correspondence between Choronzon and PAZUZU, was also calculated by one of Crowley’s students Kenneth Grant. It is here that we find how critics of the Simon Necronomicon must point the finger at themselves for being ignorant since they are uninitiated in the Qliphothic Tradition, their opinions are of no value along with their observations of it.. Sennitt continues:

“Interestingly, in relating Pazuzu to the concept of the Beast, we find his number is 107. Kenneth Grant states that this number is the number of the angel of Leo, OVAL, the messenger of the Beast.6 Oval literally means “egg”, and therefore refers to the aeon of the “daughter”, or the aeon of Set, which is still in embryonic form. In many of the world’s ancient theologies, this final aeon is the era of destruction, when the messenger of the Beast, Pazuzu, delivers his word: the howl of pestilential desert wind. The ancients may have recognised this word as the dread “great dragon”: ATEM, whose number is 440; it is also the number of “to annihilate”: “cease”, “disappear”, and, significantly, “complete”, which may refer to the ending of the cycle, as ATEM is also the goddess of periodicity, identical to the terrible Hindu goddess, Kali the destroyer. It is also interesting to note that 107+333=440. This formula may represent the ultimate blast of devastating wind from the mouth of the “great dragon”, ATEM, the Beast of the Apocalypse. “

PAZUZU’S number, according to Sennitt’s observations is 107. 1 + 0 + 7 += 8. PAZUZU is a force which is found in the Eighth Gate. This is the Gate of Self that Simon mentions in his work “Gates of the Necronomicon.” Being that Simon describes this Gate as the Gate of Self, as we have discussed in previous articles, this would also solidify our findings that PAZUZU is not just one being, but a Race of Watchers. Notice the similar hand positions of PAZUZU and the Baphomet:

PazuzuDemonfromwikipedia

Notice how the right hand is extended up and the left hand is extended down. Now let us look at the Baphomet:

WitchBaphomet

Notice on the head of the Baphomet is the Five-Pointed Star or the ARRA Sign. This is the Sign of the Race that exists from beyond the Stars. These same rites are found in the Calling of the Watcher, where the right hand is extended upwards and the left hand downwards.

“This Invocation is to be made during the course of any Ceremony when it is necessary to summon the Watcher to preside over the outer precincts of the Circle or Gate. The Sword is to be thrust into the ground as before, in the Northeast section

Interestingly, in Taoism and some forms of Japanese Buddhism, the NorthEast is known as the Demon’s Gate. Therefore, the guardian that could properly oppose the entrance of negative forces is the Watcher, which comes from the exact opposite direction-Southwest. This shows us that PAZUZU is the personification of the Race of Watchers.

demon'sgate

It is interesting to note that the South East, as seen in the above diagram, represents the Mother Earth, which relates in our system to Tiamat. Yet the mystery becomes more deeper when we analyze the images of Baphomet and PAZUZU. When the Practitioner is Calling the Watcher, while facing their altars to the North, the right hand is extended upward, which places the right hand in the North-East direction. The left-hand is extended South-West, as the Watcher is being called from the Abyss, or the South-West Sphere of the Mother Earth. PAZUZZU being the Lord of the South-West Winds and Demons, is therefore called to protect the Initiate during the rites of Initiation from forces that may enter from the North-East. Simon mentions this in his Introductory Notes, under the subheading, The Devil:

“PAZUZU was a prime example of the type of Devil of which the Sumerians were particularly aware, and which they depicted constantly in their carvings and statues. The purpose of this iconography was to ward off the spiritual – and psychic – circumstances which would precipitate a plague, or some other evil. “Evil to destroy evil.” Although the ancient people of the world were conscious of an entity we might call the :Author of all Evil”, the Devil or Satan, as evident in the Sumerian Creation Epic and the rumoured existences of the Cult of Set of the Egyptians, the more pressing concern was usually the exorcism of TIAMAT, she exists, somehow, just as the Abyss exists and is perhaps indispensable to human life if we think of Her as typifying the female quality of Energy. Although MARDUK was responsible for halving the Monster from the Sea, the Sumerian Tradition has it that the Monster is not dead, but dreaming, asleep below the surface of the Earth, strong, potent, dangerous, and very real. her powers can be tapped by the knowledgeable, “who are skilful to rouse Leviathan.”

The Mad Arab also speaks about the process in the Book of Entrance:

“For what comes on the Wind can only be slain by he who knows the Wind; and what comes on the seas can only be slain by he who knows the Waters. This is it written, in the Ancient Covenant.”

All of this indicates PAZUZU’S placement or identity with that of the Watcher. Different than the Mass of Choronzon, PAZUZU is invoked at each Gate to tear away at the “false ego” in every aspect of life. Finally, when the Initiate opens the Gate of Self, they beome merged with the Watcher and can cross the Abyss and grow more Adept in the Dark Mysteries.

KEYS TO THE ANCIENT ONES PART 11: The Meaning of AZAG-THOTH

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone to the Simon Necronomicon GateWalker’s Info Page. If this is your first time here please review our previous articles to gain deeper insight into our present discussion.

It seems to be imperative that the Priest/Priestess of the Simon Necronomicon Tradition  research all of the deities contained in the SN. Since we have been discussing the rituals and workings of the Ancient Ones, I think it would be a good idea for us to look into the meaning of these “ancient” deities  as they appear in the Simon Necronomicon.

One of the more mysterious entities mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon is AZAG-THOTH. In his introduction, Simon describes AZAG-THOTH in the following words:

“Although a list is appended hereto containing various entities and concepts of Lovecraft, Crowley, and Sumeria cross-referenced, it will do to show how the Editor found relationships to be valid and even startling. AZATOT is frequently mentioned in the grim pages of the Cthulhu Mythos, and appears in the NECRONOMICON as AZAG-THOTH, a combination of two words, the first Sumerian and the second Coptic, which gives us a clue as to Its identity. AZAG in Sumerian means “Enchanter” or “Magician”; THOTH in Coptic is the name given to the Egyptian God of Magick and Wisdom, TAHUTI, who was evoked by both the Golden Dawn and by Crowley himself (and known to the Greeks as Hermes, from whence we get “Hermetic”). AZAG-THOTH is, therefore, a Lord of Magicians, but of the “Black” magicians, or the sorcerers of the “Other Side””

It is interesting to note that Simon mentions that “THOTH” was evoked by the Golden Dawn and Crowley. However, before we go further into this discussion, we should review the references to AZAG-THOTH, in the Simon Necronomicon itself.

The First Testimony of the Mad Arab mentions the following:

“I have summoned the ghosts of my ancestors to real and visible appearance on the tops of temples built to reach the stars, and built to touch the nethermost cavities of HADES. I have wrestled with the Black Magician, AZAG-THOTH, in vain, and fled to the Earth by calling upon INANNA and her brother MARDUK, Lord of the double-headed AXE.”(1)

“But now, after One Thousand-and-One moons of the journey, the Maskim nip at my heels, the Rabishu pull at my hair, Lammashta opens her dread jaws, AZAG-THOTH gloats blindly at his throne”

We find another mention of AZAG-THOTH, in the INVOCATION OF THE SHAMMASH GATE:

“AZAG-THOTH is fallen off His Throne before Thee!”(2)

We later find mention of AZAG-THOTH in the MAKLU Text, within the EXORCISM AGAINST AZAG-THOTH AND HIS EMISSARIES:

“AZAG-THOTH TA ARDATA! IA MARDUK! IA MARDUK! IA ASALLUXI!
You have chosen me for a corpse.
You have delivered me to the Skull.
You have sent Phantoms to haunt me.
You have send vampires to haunt me.
To the wandering Ghosts of the Wastes, have you delivered me.
To the Phantoms of the fallen ruins, have you delivered me.
To the deserts, the wastes, the forbidden lands, you have handed me over.
Open Thy Mouth In Sorceries Against Me No More!
I have handed thine image over
Into the flames of GIBIL!
Burn, Mad Fiend!
Boil, Mad God!
May the Burning GIRRA untie thy knots!
May the Flames of GIBIL untie your cord!
May the Law of the Burning seize your throat!
May the Law of the Burning avenge me!”(3)

This is a very interesting passage. It reveals that AZAG-THOTH has the power and ability to send evil spirits to an individual, a point that we will come back to later in our discussion.

The Book of Calling also makes reference to AZAG-THOTH:

Know, thirdly, that by the Power of the Elder Gods and the submission of the Ancient Ones, thou mayest procure every type of honour, dignity, wealth and happiness, but that these are to be shunned as the Purveyors of Death, for the most radiant jewels are to be found buried deep in the Earth, and the Tomb of Man is the Splendour of ERESHKIGAL, the joy of KUTULU, the food of AZAG-THOTH.”(4)

“Invocation of the North Gate

“Thee I invoke, Silver Hunter from the Sacred City of UR!
Thee I call forth to guard this North Place of the Most Holy Mandal against the vicious warriors of Flame from the Principalities
of DRA!
Be thou most vigilant against the UTUKKI of TIAMAT
The Oppressors of ISHNIGARRAB
The Throne of AZAG-THOTH!
Draw Thy bow before the fiends of ABSU
Loose Thy arrow at the hordes of Dark Angels that beset the beloved of ARRA on all sides and in all places.
Be watchful, Lord of the North Ways.”(5)

He appears again in the INVOCATION OF THE FOUR GATES:

“AZAG-THOTH, TA KALLA!”(6)

Later, we find another reference in the IA ADU EN I:

“EKHI AZAG-THOTH”(7)

In the Book of Fifty Names, we find the following under the Thirty-Sixth Name LUGALLABDUBUR:

“Destroyer of the Gods of TIAMAT. Vanquisher of Her Hordes. Chained KUTULU to the Abyss. Fought AZAG-THOTH with skill”(8)

Next we come to the MAGAN Text. Section 4 entitled the Sleep of ISHTAR gives us a few references to the name:

“ERESHKIGAL rejoiced.
Blind AZAG-THOTH rejoiced
IAK SAKKAK rejoiced
ISHNIGGARRAB rejoiced
KUTULU rejoiced
The MASKIM gave praise to the Queen of Death
The GIGIM gave praise to ERESHKIGAL, Queen of Death
(9)

And the Elder Ones were rent “

Later we find the following:

“The demons of all the Abyss lay there
Dead but Dreaming, they clung to the walls
Of the House of Death
Faceless and terrible
The ANNUNAKI stared out
Blind and Mad AZAG-THOTH reared up”(10)

Another reference is made here:

The Dark Waters trembled and roiled. AZAG-THOTH screamed upon his throne”(11)

Now we move on to the URILLA Text:

“Of all the Gods and Spirits of Abomination, there can be no use or gain to call upon AZAG-THOTH, as he is Surely Mad. Rendered sightless in the Battle, he is Lord of CHAOS, and the priest can find little use for him. He is also too powerful to control once called, and gives violent struggle before sent back to the Gate, for which only a strong and able magician may dare raise him. Thus, for that reason, his seal is not given.”(12)

“And with these incantations, and with others, the sorcerers and the she-sorcerers call many things that harm of the life of man. And they fashion images out of wax, and out of flour and honey, and of all the metals, and burn them or otherwise destroy them, and chant the civilisations. And they cause plagues, for they summon PAZUZU. And they cause madness, for they call AZAG-THOTH. And these Spirits come upon the Wind, and some upon the Earth, crawling. And no oil, no powder, suffices to save a man from this inquity, save that exorcisms handed down and recited by the able Priest. And they work by the Moon, and not by the Sun, and by older planets than the Chaldaens were aware. And in cords, they tie knows, and each is a spell. And if these knots be found, they may be untied, and the cords burnt, and the spell shall be broken, as it is written:”(13)

We now come to the last part of the Text entitled, The Second Testimony of the Mad Arab:

“And I have seen them in their Rites, and the awful Things they call forth from the Lands beyond Time. I have seen the Signs carved upon their stones, their altars. I have seen the Sign of PAZUZU, and ZALED, and those of XASTUR and AZAG-THOTH, and similarly those of ISHNIGARRAB and the awful Offspring of the Goat, and the terrible musicks of their Race.”(14)

We can see that AZAG-THOTH is referred to numerous times in the Text. What I also found out is that the term “AZAG”,  which appears in various part of the Text is also a reference to AZAG-THOTH. Yet AZAG-THOTH appears 14 times in the Text. If we include Simon’s reference we arrive at the number 15, a number that corresponds to the Devil in the Major Arcana. We must also keep in mind that AZAG-THOTH is also mentioned in the CHART OF COMPARISONS, which appears in the introduction of the Simon Necronomicon. It is here that we find AZAG-THOTH being compared to AIWASS. When we begin to approach AZAG-THOTH from the perspective of AIWASS, we should consider that AIWASS was the messenger who gave Crowley his revelation in 1904, but also considered by Crowley to be his HGA. In the book entitled Magick Liber Book Four, we find some interesting observations in the book’s introductory notes:

“I now incline to believe that Aiwass is not only the God or Demon or Devil once held holy in Sumer, and mine own Guardian Angel, but also a man as I am, insofar as he uses a human body to make his link with Mankind whom He loves…Aiwaz is not (as I had supposed) a mere formula, …but is the true most ancient name of the God of the Yezidis, and thus returns to the highest Antiquity. Our work is therefore historically authentic, the rediscovery of the Sumerian Tradition.

Crowley’s words indicate the depth of Aiwass, as ones’ higher self, but also as a deity. AIWASS’ appearance in the Book of the Law reveals yet another attribute:

“Behold! it is revealed by Aiwass the minister of Hoor-paar-kraat”

We see from these words that AIWASS was a messenger for the “Child of Horius” or Hoor-paar-kraat. This brings into play the meaning of the term THOTH.

THOTH is a Greek corruption of the Egyptian term “TEHUITI.” Attributes of TEHUTI vary depending on what time period in Egyptian history you are dealing with. However, one aspect that seems to reveal itself in our studies in the designation of TEHUTI as a Scribe of the deities. E. A. Wallis Budge mentions this in his writings Gods of the Egyptians Vol. 1 page 409. This description of TEHUTI/THOTH seems to be the most appropriate in view of Aleister Crowley’s experiences with the energies of TEHUTI. Crowley received the Book of the Law only after invoking “THOTH” ( god of knowledge ). This would best explain why Simon  connected AZAG-THOTH with AIWASS. Yet it also reveals something deeper. The Mad Arab, in his First Testimony, recounts for us his initiation and how he came to understand what was revealed to him. If we compare some of the passages in his Testimony, we can see that this revelation woild best be attributed to the deity AZAG-THOTH. Let us take a brief look at his Testimony:

“I picked it up and saw that it also was carved, as the stone, but very intricately, after a fashion I could not understand. I did not bear the same markings as the stone, but I had the feeling I could almost read the characters, but could not, as though I once knew the tongue but had since long forgotten. My head began to ache as though a devil was pounding my skull, when a shaft of moonlight struck the metal amulet, for I know now what it was, and a voice entered into my head and told me the secrets of the scene I had witnessed in one word:

KUTULU.

In that moment, as though whispered fiercely into my ear, I understood.”

The above pasasage informs us that it was only after hearing the vooice of KUTULU that the Mad Arab understood the events that took place in the mountain. We will come back to this passage after we look further in his account of what happened.

Here we see a reference to a “scribe”  who taught the Mad Arab the meaning of the Signs. This is a science that is attributed ti TEHUTI/THOTH. The passage goes on to state that “it is the Sigil of the Covenant of the Elder Gods,” Interestingly, the ARRA is said to describe the ‘Race from beyond the Stars.’ This is a reference to those who have been reborn in the blood of the Dragon, or the Ancient Ones. See the Elder Gods represent many things such as planetary energies and etc. However, one thing the Elder Gods represent that is not discussed in public circles, are magicians who were human at one time, and later became immortal gods. We see evidence of this in the Simon Necronomicon Tradition for it state in the Tome:

“THIS is the Book of the Ceremonies of Calling, handed down since the time the Elder Gods walked the Earth, Conquerors of the Ancient Ones”.

The above passage, while often misunderstood, is very clear. The Elder Gods were individual or a clan of magicians and mystics who were able to harness the powers of darkeness and remain alive after physical death consciously. This is the purpose of the Greater Mysteries. This is why the War between the Elder Gods and Ancient Ones can only be understood when read as a metaphore. Let us look at what the The Encyclopædia Britannica  edited by Hugh Chisholm says on page 55:

“..gods of fire, wind and water, gods of the sea, and above allgods of the sky, show no signs of having been ghost gods at any period in their history. They may, it is true, be associated with ghost gods, but in Australiait cannot even be assertedthat the gods are spirits at all…,they are simply magnified magicians, super-men who have never died, we have no ground, therefore, for regarding the cult of the dead as the origin of religion in this area;”

The above quote is further evidence that the Elder Gods were deified magicians. In Christian Mythology, the whole theme of the life of Jesus Christ is an example of this. Now let us get back to our discussion at hand. How can we be certain that AZAG-THOTH is the “Scribe” who revealed the “dark mysteries” to the Mad Arab? Let us make one more comparison to confirm this point. The Mad Arab mentions something very interesting in his description of the “amulet” he recovered from the fire:

“Wherefore, the amulet must be engraved upon pure silver in the full light of the moon, that the moon shine upon it at its working, and the essence of the moon incantations must be performed, and the prescribed rituals as given forth in this Book. And the amulet must never be exposed to the light of the Sun, for SHAMMASH called UDU, in his jealousy, will rob the seal of its power. In such a case, it must be bathed in water of camphor, and the incantations and ritual performed once again. But, verily, it were better to engrave another.”

Here we see something very interesting. If the “amulet” that the Mad Arab recovered from the fire, was a sign of the Elder Gods, such as NEBO, then it would make no sense as to why SHAMMASH would rob the “amulet”of its power. However, when we consider all that we have discussed thus far, we can find some answeers by reviewing the INVOCATION OF THE SHAMMASH GATE. Notice what it states:

“KUTULU is burned by Thy Might! AZAG-THOTH is fallen off His Throne before Thee! ISHNIGARRAB is scorched black by Thy rays!”

Here tis the only Gate Incantation that makes reference to KUTULU (Cult of the Dragon), AZAG-THOTH ( Cult of the Dog ) , and ISHNIGARRAB ( Cult of the Goat ). Out of these three Ancient Ones, we know for certain that AZAG-THOTH is the messenger. Therefore, the “Scribe” that taught the Mad Arab via telepathy was AZAG-THOTH. We cannot conclude this discussion as of yet. We must also define the term “AZAG.”

AZAG is a derivative of the Sumerian term asg, which means “one who causes sickness.” This demon is often depicted as serpent of dragon. Simon mentions that AZAG-THOTH is a derivative of Azathoth, often mentioned in Lovecraft lore. Wikipedia mentions the following under the topic Azathoth:

“In “The Dreams in the Witch House” (1932), the protagonist Walter Gilman dreams that he is told by the witch Keziah Mason that “He must meet the Black Man, and go with them all to the throne of Azathoth at the centre of ultimate Chaos…. He must sign in his own blood the book of Azathoth and take a new secret name…. What kept him from going with her…to the throne of Chaos where the thin flutes pipe mindlessly was the fact that he had seen the name ‘Azathoth’ in the Necronomicon, and knew it stood for a primal horror too horrible for description.”

This description seems to give us another insight into how AZAG-THOTH is define in the Simon Necronomicon, as the Mad Arab often describes him sitting upon a Throne. It seems that AZAG-THOTH serves the purpose of being an Initiator into the “dark mysteries.” This is how Simon was able to compare AZAG-THOTH with AIWASS. I would have to agree with John Allee and his Book of Aiwass. He assigns AIWASS as being able to grant the ability of astral projection and to THOTH the ability to see and hear spirits. These attributes combined in what we have in the energies of the deity AZAG-THOTH.

KEYS TO THE ANCIENT ONES PART 10: ANU the Dead God?

Greetings!

I would like to take the time out to thank everyone for visiting the Simon Necronomicon GateWalker’s Info Page. If this is your first time here, please take the time to review some of our previous articles to better equip you in understanding our current discussion.

We have spent some time discussing the deeper mysteries of the Simon Necronomicon, which are found in our KEYS TO THE ANCIENT ONES SERIES. I thought that it would be good to share some information with those who have been Walking the Gates for some time and still have not gotten to the deeper initiation, as found in the Urilla Text. I would like to begin our discussion with a passage from the Mad Arab’s First Testimony:

“Thinking no more of the carvings, save that they might be the work of a king to mark some ancient victory over an enemy, I built a fire at its foot to protect me from the wolves that wander in those regions and went to sleep, for it was night and I was far from my village, being Bet Durrabia. Being about three hours from dawn, in the nineteenth of Shabatu, I was awakened by the howl of a dog, perhaps of a wolf, uncommonly loud and close at hand.”

It is interesting to note that the Mad Arab was awakened by a “wolf” or dog. This is a clear reference to ANU. Most of the animals mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon have reference to a particular deity. David S. just recently wrote an excellent essay on the subject entitled Dark Totems and Animal Shamanism and I thought I would expand a little more on it.

In the book entitled BABYLONIAN STARLORE written by Gavin White, we find a unique observation on page 222:

“In star-lists the Wolf is usually attributed to Anu, who is widely regarded as the most ancient god of heaven….Anu’s association to the Wolf, however, hints at the darker aspects of his nature…Anu is also regarded as the father of the host of demons…”

Here we see one association of ANU with a Wolf and also that ANU was father to the demons, or dark entities. Wayne Horowitz, in his book entitled, Mesopotamian cosmic geography, mentions the following on page 6:

“the ghost of Anu is a Wolf,…”

These associations are evidently concerning certain star-groupings. Yet it is interesting to note, that while researching the information contained herein, I had an opportunity to review some of the information in the famous yet rare “Ordeal Of MARDUK” text.

The Text known as the Ordeal of Marduk belongs to a category of Assyrian texts generally referred to as the Cultic Commentaries. This text seems to be some sort of ritualistic document that was used in the Rites of MARDUK. A review of this rare text would indicate why the Mad Arab wrote the Necronomicon in code, appearing to support the religion of MARDUK, for the rites of initiation, while actually being a tgrimoire that supports the worship of the Ancient Ones.  We can confirm this by turning once again to the words of Gavin White in his book BABYLONIAN STARLORE on page 151:

“the 19th day of month 6 is called the “Silence of Wrath” –the day that Marduk defeated Anu…”

The text calls mentions that Marduk defeated ANU in all translations known. However, we find that the Mad Arab constantly calls for the protection of ANU and not MARDUK in his 1st and 2nd Testimonies. This indicates that the Mad Arab was a worshiper of the Ancient Ones. Another indication of this is revealed in the Mad Arab’s 1st Testimony:

“THIS IS THE TESTIMONY of all that I have seen, and all that I have learned, in those years that I have possessed the Three Seals of MASSHU. I have seen One Thousand-and-One moons, and surely this is enough for the span of a man’s life, though it is said the Prophets lived much longer.”

“But now, after One Thousand-and-One moons of the journey, the Maskim nip at my heels, the Rabishu pull at my hair, Lammashta opens her dread jaws, AZAG-THOTH gloats blindly at his throne, KUTULU raises his head and stares up through the Veils of sunkun Varloorni, up through the Abyss, and fixes his stare upon me; wherefore I must with haste write this indeed, it appears as though I have failed in some regard as to the order of the rites, or to the formulae, or to the sacrifices, for now it appears as if the entire host of ERESHKIGAL lies waiting, dreaming, drooling for my departure.”

From the two passages above that appear in the 1st Testimony, we can ascertain that 1.001 moons is an alchemical number. We can safely come to this because in the first passage the Mad Arab mentions that he lived 1,001 moons, but later he writes that these 1,001 moons was the length of his journey. Thus, the Mad Arab counted his years of existence based on how many years he was in the “work.” In order to solve this calculation we must resort to some basic math skills.

If were to take 1,001 and divide it by 13 moons in a year, we would get 77. Interestingly, 7 + 7 = 14. 14 is the sacred number assigned to NERGAL. This seems to be appropriate since the GateWalker is a worker of the flame and sword, two qualities of NERGAL. This should not be confused with NERGAL’S astro-cosmological number of 8. Yet we find something very interesting when we peruse this a little further. If we were to divide 1,001 moons by 12 months, we would get 84. However, we should also make note that the reference to “1,001” is actually made three times. Notice what is stated in the Book of Calling:

“In the Ceremonies of Calling, any type of Spirit may be summoned and detained until It has answered your questions or provided you with whatever you desire. The Spirits of the Dead may be invoked. The Spirits of the Unborn may be invoked. The Spirits of the Seven Spheres may be invoked. The Spirits of the Flame may be invoked. In all, there may be One Thousand-and-One Spirits that are of principal importance, and these you will come to know in the course of your experiments. There are many others, but some have no power, and will only confuse.”

Here we see the term “1,001” once again. Since the term appears three times in the Text, we would then take 1,001 times 3, which is 3,003. Now we take 3,003 and divide that by 12 months and we would get 250 years. This is the amount of time approximately that it takes Pluto to orbit the Sun Now we find out something interesting here. In a book entitled, The Worship of the Dead Or the Origin and Nature of Pagan Idolatry and Its …

By J. Garnier, the following observation is made on page 42:

“The god of the dead” worshipped under the name of “Anu”…,Anu was also called “Dis” which identifies him with “Pluto.”

Here we see a clear reference as to an aspect of ANU that is revealed in the Simon Necronomicon. Mystical and Mythological Explanatory Works of Assyrian and Babylonian Scholars By Alasdair Livingstone states the following on page 89:

“The present text seems to assume that Enmesarra, Enlil, Anu, and Tiamat are dead, and to reflect the myths in which these deities are defeated by Marduk and others.”

This shows us the effects of how theology changed with the uprising of the cult of Marduk. Yet is also shows us through metaphor that ANU is listed as one of the gods worshipped by the Ancient Ones.

KEYS TO THE ANCIENT ONES PART 9: Discovering The Atlantean Necronomicon

Greetings!

I would like to welcome everyone to the Simon Necronomicon GateWalker’s Info Page. It has certainly been a pleasure. If this is your first time here, I suggest that you review our previous discussion to bring you up to date with our current post.

Recently, we have been going into the depths of the SN, and defining what the worship of The Ancient Ones entails and why. I would like to point out, if the Initiate hasn’t already figured it out, that the workings of the Simon Necronomicon are indeed those of the Ancient Ones. We have discussed this throughout numerous posts. So we can know come to an understanding as to why the Book of Calling begins as such:

“THIS is the Book of the Ceremonies of Calling, handed down since the time the Elder Gods walked the Earth, Conquerors of the Ancient Ones.
This is the Book of NINNGHIZHIDDA, Horned Serpent, the Lady of the Magick Wand.
This is the Book of NINAXAKUDDU, The Queen, Mistress of the Incantations.
This is the Book of ASALLUXI, the King, the Lord of Magick.
This is the Book of AZAG, the Enchanter.
This is the Book of EGURA, the Dark Waters of ABSU, Realm of ERESHKIGAL, Queen of Death.
This is the Book of the Ministers of Knowledge, FIRIK and PIRIK, the Demon of the Snake-Entwined Magick Wand and the
Demon of the Thunderbolt, Protectors of the Arcane Faith, the Most Secret Knowledge, to be hidden from those not of us,
from the uninitiated.
This is the Book of ASARU, the Eye on the Throne.
This is the book of USHUMGALLUM, Mighty Dragon, born of HUBUR, of the Battle Against the Elder Gods.
This is the Book of ENDUKUGGA and NINDUKUGGA, Male and Female Monsters of the Abyss, of the Claws like
Daggers and the Wings of Darkness.
This is further the Book of NAMMTAR, Chief among the Magicians of ERESHKIGAL.
This is the Book of the Seven Demons of the Ignited Spheres, of the Seven Demons of the Flame.
This is the Book of the Priest, who governeth the Works of Fire!”

It is interesting to note that none of the above entities are Elder Gods, yet the Book of Calling is said to be accredited to Underworld Entities. In Gates of the Necronomicon Simon makes it pretty clear that even entities found in the Urilla Text can be called based on the standard Calling given in the Book. However, when one passes the Gate Of Iak Sakkakk, I suggest that they write their own method of Calling, or use the one that is found in our post CONSTRUCTING A TEMPLE TO THE ANCIENT ONES The instructions given in the Book of Calling serve the purpose of Walking or call the planetary deities, no other. Noticce what the Mad Arab mentions when he speaks about the Calling of the Watcher:

“HIS is the Book of the Conjuration of the Watcher, for formulae as I received them from the Scribe of ENKI, Our Master and Lord of All Magick. Great care must be taken that this untamed Spirit does not rise up against the Priest, and for that reason a preliminary sacrifice must be made in a clean and new bowl with the appropriate sigils inscribed thereupon, being the three grey carven signs of the Rock of my initiation,”

Here we can see the Mad Arab’s description that his First Testimony was a poetic call into his initiation as an Ancient One. He later explains that the bowl used as the AGA MASS SSARATU is to be used only for Calling the Watcher. The Watchers are definitely among the entities that we find in the Urilla Text for it is said that they are called KIA MASS SSARATU:

“Wherefore it is wise to conjure It in the Names of the Three Great Watchers Who existed before the Confrontation from whose borne the Watcher and His Race ultimately derive, and those Three are ANU, ENLIL, and Master ENKI of the Magick Waters. And for this reason They are sometimes called the Three Watchers, MASS SSARATI and the Watcher MASS SSARATU, or KIA MASS SSARATU.”

There are no Callings for the Watcher in the Urilla Text because during our Initiation we become the Watcher, which is the Sacred Marriage Rite. This is when we have been fully initiated into the system, and begin learning the deeper aspects of the text, one being, that the Urilla Text is the Atlantean Necronomicon. We can see that this is clearly evident when we examine the EMERALD TABLETS OF THOTH THE ATLANTEAN NOTICE WHAT IS MENTIONED IN TABLET NUMBER 6:

“But if thou findest thine heart is not darkened,
be sure that a force is directed to thee.
Only by knowing can thou overcome it.
Only be wisdom can thou hope to be free.
Knowledge brings wisdom and wisdom is power.
Attain and ye shall have power o’er all.
Seek ye first a place bound by darkness.
Place ye a circle around about thee.
Stand erect in the midst of the circle.
Use thou this formula, and you shalt be free.
Raise thou thine hands to the dark space above thee
. Close thou thine eyes and draw in the LIGHT.

Call to the SPIRIT OF LIGHT through the Space-Time,
using these words and thou shalt be free:
“Fill thou my body, O SPIRIT OF LIfe,
fill thou my body with SPIRIT OF LIGHT.
Come from the FLOWER
that shines through the darkness.
Come from the HALLS where the Seven Lords rule.

Name them by name, I, the Seven:
THREE, FOUR, FIVE,
and SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT–Nine.

By their names I call them to aid me,
free me and save me from the darkness of night:
UNTANAS, QUERTAS, CHIETAL,
and GOYANA, HUERTAL, SEMVETA–ARDAL.
By their names I implore thee,
free me from darkness
and fill me with LIGHT
Know ye, O man, that when ye have done this,
ye shall be free from the fetters that bind ye,
cast off the bondage of the brothers of night.”

We find this same method in the Urilla Text

“Spirit of the Earth, Remember!
Spirit of the Seas, Remember!
In the Names of the Most Secret Spirits of NAR MARRATUK
The Sea below the seas
And of KUTULU
The Serpent who sleepeth Dead
From beyond the graves of the Kings
From beyond the tomb wherein INANNA
Daughter of the Gods
Gained Entrance to the Unholy Slumbers
Of the she-fiend of KUTHULETH

In SHURRUPAK, I summon thee to mine aid!
In UR, I summon thee to mine aid!
In NIPPURR, I summon thee to mine aid!
In ERIDU, I summon thee to mine aid!
In KULLAH, I summon thee to mine aid!
In LAAGASH, I summon thee to mine aid!
Rise up, O powers from the Sea below all seas
From the grave beyond all graves
From the Land of TIL
To SHIN
NEBO
ISHTAR
SHAMMASH
NERGAL
MARDUK
ADAR

House of the Water of Life
Pale ENNKIDU
Hear me!

Spirit of the Seas, Remember!

Spirit of the Graves, Remember!”

In both, the Emerald Tablets and the Simon Necronomicon, this ritual is performed to drink of the Waters of Life, which is why the SN mentions the Land of Til.  Til means life. Some people have translated TIAMAT  as Maiden of Life.  The Invocation of Powers found in the Urilla Text has the same meaning as the ritual given to us by Thoth the Atlantean, to drink from the waters of immortality that are guarded and protected by “dark entities.’  This can be further evidenced by the Legend of Adapa and the SouthWinds.  In this famous epic, both DUMUZI and GOZZIDA, two Underworld deities, are said to be guarding the Throne of Anu. Another example of this is found in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean,  Tablet One, entitled The History of Thoth, the Atlantean This Tablet has the same theme as the Mad Arab’s Firt Testimony.

We also discover some of Lovecraft themes in the Emerald Tablets. Tablet 5 , THE DWELLER OF UNAL has a similar theme to Dweller in Darkness by Lovecraft. It seems that Simon was able to see that the  bridge between Crowley and Lovecraft was the Emerald Tablets.  It is based upon the narration by Thoth in these Tablets that we derive the Simon Necronomicon’s deity AZAG-THOTH. I wonder if  Dan Harms has ever made this same observation, since he is a big critique of the Tome and our spiritual tradition. Interstingly, Simon makes a comment about the Emerald Tablets in his Introduction under the subheading the Devil he states:

“For, as it is said in one of man’s most ancient of Covenants, the Emerald table, “As Above, So Below.” Man’s power to alter the nature of his environment must develop simultaneously with his ability to master his inner environment, his own mind his psyche, soul. spirit…Yet, he must remember that the occult powers that accompany magical attainment are ornamental only, indications of obstacles overcome on the Path to Perfection, and are not to be sort after in themselves, for theirinlies the true Death.”

This is one of the most profound occult staements ever and it is further reason why the operations of the Simon Necronomicon should be taken seriously. While the Initiate is going through the GateWalking Initiations, they must work on themselves. If one were to work contrary to this statement then they would only be magnifying their own internal demons, which will be released in the phenomenal world when they open the 8th Gate. Simon makes mention of this and the 8th Gate, in his book Gates of the Necronomicon. Notice what he says on page 111:

“The Eastern doctrine of karma is not simply a moral lesson; rather, it is the logical extension of the Hermetic axiom “as above, so below”: the key axiom of all magick and indeed, of all action whatsoever. By attempting to open the “mysterious gate” in one’s own soul, one also risks oopening the “Gate to the Other World” and thereby loosing demons upon the Earth. Such was the outcome of Inanna’s return from the Underworld, as she re-entered society trailing demons for and aft.”

In the above passage Simon confirms that our estimations are  correct. The workings of the Urilla Text deals with the Gate of Timat, or the Gate of Self. It is the 8th Gate in our initiation, but if it is not performed the energies we have worked with in the previous Walking rituals will become stagnent and in a sense we become victims to the Great Queen Ereshkigal, as mentioned in the MAGAN Text.

“When DUMUZI is slain and buried/MAY THE DEAD RISE AND SMELL THE INCENSE!”

What the above passage means is that once we open the 8th Gate, there is no turning back. It is not a Gate for those who have not adopted this work as a spiritual path. The effects of opening the 8th Gate  are extremely astral in nature and what is astral becomes a part of ones’ physical reality. “As Above, So below.” Understand? Yet if one doesn’t open this door the energies remain stagnent. Opening the 8th Gate is a Female Rite, so it is called the Sleep of ISHTAR versus Walking the Gates, which is a Rite of Marduk. Here we have the Yin’Yang principles in motion. Therefore, we are to work with both sides of the spectrum in our work. The 8th Gate has been called by many names on this blog page. It is interesting to note that it is the true Arcturian Gate. I must say that the Sumerian workings, as found in the SN, is a testimony to this.  Long before all of this New Age propaganda concerning Arcturus began, we  had an effective means for contancting this current in the Urilla Text. Let us turn back to the pages of Gates of the Necronomicon on page 125, and notice what is said knowing that our rituals are connected to the Big Dipper:

“Originally, the Northern Ladle was composed of eight, not sevn stars. The missing star is Arcturus, which once formed part of the Dipper over three thousand years ago.”

The spirits mentioned in the URILLA Text are not evil or good, they are beyond that. When the Initiate begins working with these energies, they begin to understand some of the Divine Metaphors that have escaped scholars. This is what Dan Harms cannot understand. The spirits in the URILLA Text are Atlantean in nature and thus Insectial Spirits.  Insect Spirits is not a common topic in the Occult Circle these days. It seems that the theme of inner and outer growth as mentioned by Simon earlier in this article, is lacking in today’s New Age Movement.

Insects and reptiles are good symbols of what it means to be immortal.  Serpents are extremely deadly, but show the amazing ability of rebirth by the shedding of its skin. Insects also are examples of how life can evolve. Many of the flying creatures in the Insect kingdom begin life as worms or caterpillars. Some of the famous Occult scholars have even taken the unique abilities of insects a step further  The Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky by Maurice Nicoll, mentions the following:

“As you know, the ants obviously began to tamper with themselves following some kind of scientific logic sacrificed everything that might make them individual..,and became subject to a purely state-organization, and apparently organized themselves for a kind of continual military service,..”

From the above observation, we can see that Insects were  somewhat an advanced species that weakened over the ages.

Gary Varmer in his book, Creatures in the mist, makes the following observation of page 111:

“Animals and insects have figured in most of the world’s religions in one way or another…,they are the gods and goddesses that people worshipped, or they are the demon and devils that are feared.”

Information concerning Insect-spirits is rare, because it was often laced in symbolism of the “dark tradition” or the Cult of the Dead. Although I cannot speak on certain things here. I will mention some things and how it relates to the Simon Necronomicon. It should be noted that the Atlantean Necronomicon, which I am currently putting together, concerns itself only with those who have opened the 8th Gate. In my own personal experience when one opens the 8th Gate their experiences become completely supernatural! I will relate briefly how the topics we have just covered concern this writing that will only be available for those Initiates who have operated, or opened this Gate. It should also be noted by the Initiate that the forces behind the 8th Gate are organized and that entry into this Ancient Secret Society are completely astral, but are real as experiences in the phenomenal world. Here is an excerpt from the Atlantean Necronomicon:

“All throughout the day, I kept getting an epiphany to make an herbal potion that has correspondences to the entities in the 8th Gate. so I went to the store and brought some ingredients that came to me in the epiphany. It was late in the afternoon and I decided to drink the potion and to use some of it as an herbal bath. The ingredients that I used naturally raised my body temperature, but were useful in purifying my blood. I had another cup of this tea shortly before going to sleep. I did some reading and kept my journal near my bed. After falling asleep, I found myself in an OBE. I saw three shadows pass near my bed. These shadows turned into mosquitos about the size of a six-foot tall man. I could feel their wings moving above me, and they stung me, but I was not frightened. They told me to research the properties of the mosquito when I awoke and returned to my body. They also told me that mosquitos were written about in ancinet times as the Lilitu. Suddenly I awoke. It was about 4 a.m. Bothof my arms were filled with mosquito bites. I was very sore and I decided to follwo the instructions. I looked up the properties of the mosquito and made the following notes:

1) Male mosquitos dont bite humans-only the females do. (The Lilitu are female spirits)

2) Female mosquitos bite mammals, or enjoy a blood meal to acquire the needed proteins for their eggs.(The URILLA Text mentions that “the LILIT are quick to come at Calling,..,and robbing the Water of Life and the Food of Life in which to quicken to the Dead.” Interestingly, Eygptand Sumeria were familiar with the malaria.)

3) One study found that mosquitos were more active during the “full moon” than in other parts of the Moon cycle. (The Simon Necronomicon mentions concerning the LILIT that “after the passage of one-tenth of the Moon the Elements are dead.”)

4) Mosquitos lay their eggs on water, which can be a saltmarsh, a lake, a puddle, a plant, or a bucket of water. The eggs hatch to become larvae. (The Simon Necronomicon in the Second Testimony states the follwoing: Remeber thy life is in running water, and not in still water, for the latter is a breeding place for the LILITU..,”)

After noting the following comparisons, I was able to understand that the Lilitu was probably a metaphor for mosquitoes. Yet it would seem that these entities from the other side are more insectial than those than human in nature. I went to sleep with difficulty because my arms were still irritated from the mosquito bites that were  on both of my arms. Finally I was able to return to sleep and when I awoke I felt rested and their were no marks on my arms and my bites were completely gone. I felt refreshed and had the energy of a teenager. I realized why the ancients may have called these spirtis evil, but I also realized that these energies, while  not compassionate to human emotion, still serve for the basis of the univeral good and in some ways become part of the Initiate’s mindset. See, if the Initiate is in pursuit of magical power, then they will eventually go insane, but if the Initiate is working form a true spiritual place of evolution, they can enjoy the Insect-like qualities as being useful for the great work. Insects are able to move with stealth and to function regardless of the environmental changes that surround them. They do not put emotion over what needs to be done. It is for this reason that the Ancient Deities may have been considered evil since they were less compassionate to human needs, as was the younger generation of gods and goddesses. Yet the younger gods and goddesses were somewhat deceptive in their own approach and invented the pleasures of which man became consumed in. This should indicate to the Initiate that he needs to be balanced in his work by using both the Ancient Ones Principles and those of the Elder Gods to rule their own worlds with strength and compassion, focusing on the goal of the work. This can only be accomplished by balance. We see balance in PAZUZU who was able to fight off “evil spirits.” PAZUZU is  known as the ANZU Bird in ancient legend. He is also known in the Necronomicon Mysteries as the Watcher. It is this force that we unite with in the Sacred Marriage Rite of GateWalking. It is interesting for the Initiate to note that PAZUZU is often seen in the same position that the Initiate is using when Calling the Watcher:pazuzu

Notice that the right-hand is up. this symbolizes the Initiate’s ability to draw down the energies from the stars. Notice that the left-hand is facing downwards. This symbolizes the ability to use heavenly energies to understand the Greater Mysteries of Darkness. It is balance.”

This experience happened to me on August the 8th, 2009. I must say that although critics like Dan Harms claim that the Simon Necronomicon cannot be used for understanding the Dark Mysteries of Ancient Mesopotamia, I must also say that he is not an Initiate of the System.  So his perspective is “dead” to any experience with these energies. Yet we have to admire his ability in research and writing and also realize that he has a part to play in all of this as wel. l It is through his resolved critique of the SN that we are able to gain some insights by exploring some of issues he has raised, and to verify our findings with written history. Although Dan Harms  is not invoking the energies in the book, he is being used by them. Therefore, we should keep him in our prayers and workings  that he too may be protected.
